Job Summary

The Foodservice Design Manager oversees the planning, technical execution, and day-to-day coordination of foodservice and retail design projects across Compass Group’s portfolio. This role directly manages Foodservice Designers and BIM Managers, guiding the creation of forward-thinking café and dining spaces for corporate workplaces, education, sports, and leisure sectors while helping establish national design guidelines. 

Responsibilities
  • Team Supervision & Workflow Management: Manage and guide Foodservice Designers and BIM staff on daily project tasks, Revit/CAD standards, and production deadlines. 
  • Design Delivery & Quality Control: Oversee and develop foodservice layouts across all design phases (SD, DD, CD, and CA), ensuring technical accuracy and alignment with project scopes. 
  • Technical & MEP Coordination: Supervise the drafting of equipment layouts, plumbing/electrical utility rough-ins, and Special Conditions plans, coordinating directly with external Architectural and Engineering project teams. 
  • Equipment Specification Oversight: Review and approve equipment selections, AutoQuotes documentation, cut books, and 11400 foodservice specification manuals for accuracy and code compliance. 
  • Custom Fabrication Review: Review custom millwork and fabrication drawings, collaborating with the VP of Design to implement necessary design modifications.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the primary design point of contact in project engineering meetings, working closely with Project Managers and clients to maintain project milestones and budgets.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or Engineering. 
Experience: 10+ years of professional experience in commercial foodservice design, kitchen planning, and design coordination. 
Technical Software Skills: Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, KCL, and AutoQuotes. 
Industry Knowledge: Strong expertise in CSI Division 11400 specifications, health/sanitation codes, equipment cost estimating, and MEP coordination. 
Leadership & Communication: Demonstrated ability to supervise designers, manage multi-project workflows, and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary partners.
