Job description

Position Title:ย Cook

Department:ย Food Service

Location: Tri City CUSD #1

Reports to:ย Head Cook

ย 

Must possess current Food Handler's License

ย 

SUMMARY

ย 

To provide students daily with a wholesome, nutritious Class "A" lunch, as determined by the National School Lunch Program.

ย 

DUTIES
1. Prepare food for full menu meal and ala carte' according to menus, special dietary or nutritional requirements, and number of portions to be served.

ย 

2. Handle, carry and serve food to students.

ย 

3. Prepare food to ship out to other schools.

ย 

4. Ensure that there are adequate trays and utensils for students.

ย 

5. Retrieve/store items from storeroom, cooler, or freezer

ย 

6. Responsible for the cleanliness of the kitchen including equipment and appliances.

ย 

7. Wash service area, dishes, trays, pots/pans by hand, with sprayer and industrial dishwasher.

ย 

8. Dry and store kitchen wares

ย 

9. Clean and inspect equipment and appliances

ย 

10. Sweep and mop floors.

ย 

11. Helps maintain inventory levels of food products.

ย 

12. Stores food properly and safely marking date and item.

ย 

13. Complies with all county health rules and regulations.

ย 

14. Communicates with the students regarding food selection.

ย 

15. Reports any necessary equipment repair and maintenance to supervisor.

ย 

16. Complies with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards.

ย 

17. Observes proper food preparation and handling techniques.

ย 

18. Completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned.

ย 

19. Responsible for the lunch ticket program in their building.

ย 

20. May be required to perform additional tasks as required by administration.

ย 

QUALIFICATIONS

ย 

1. High school diploma or equivalent required.

ย 

2. Must be familiar with food preparation including appliances, recipes, etc.

ย 

3. Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions.

ย 

4. Enforce school regulations and policies in a professional manner.

ย 

5. Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils.

ย 

6. Ability to stand for long periods of time.

ย 

7. Ability to lift and carry up to 45 lbs.

ย 

8. Ability to push/pull up to 12 lbs.

ย 

9. Ability to communicate to students, parents and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner.

ย
