Job description

Job Description: Serve patrons in a courteous manner, which promotes human dignity; clean kitchen and serving areas and equipment; and assist with general duties. This position is 21.5 hours a week. St. John's Breadline is open 7 days a week. Coverage on Thanksgiving Day or Christmas may be required.

Job Duties:

  • Courteously interact with guests while enforcing house rules with firmness and sensitivity.
  • Serve food and assist in its preparation.
  • Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and floors.
  • Clean kitchen equipment and tables.
  • Welcome and assist volunteer groups and individuals.
  • Keep written documentation of timesheets, number of meals served, commodity food usage, daily tasks completion, and donations.
  • Evaluate the quality of food donations and creatively use them each day.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school / General education degree.
  • Ability to accept instructions and apply them logically and responsibly and to make productive use of unsupervised time.
  • Illinois Food Sanitation course completion.
