Job Title: Food Service Cook
FLSA Status: Nonexempt
Reports To: Food Service Supervisor
Work Location: School
Work Schedule: 180 days
Position Summary
Under general supervision, performs tasks in a supportive role associated with the efficient operation of the school cafeteria. Work is performed under the direction of Food Service Supervisor and Food Service Director.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times.
  • Assist in cooking and assembling food items.
  • Serve meals to students and staff with a friendly and customer-oriented approach.
  • Participates in the clean-up procedures as required.
  • Complete all training as assigned.
  • Exercises good judgment and works effectively with all school personnel and students.
  • Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate high quality customer service.
  • Performs other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Education/Experience Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent, preferred or one year experience in food service.
  • Obtain ServSafe Certification within 6 months of being hired.
  • Knowledge of food preparation and service practices preferred.
  • Knowledge of kitchen safety and sanitation practices preferred.
  • Ability to use food preparation and cleaning equipment.
  • History of excellent work attendance.
  • Perform duties in a professional and personable manner.

Other/Physical Requirements
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift objects of 40 pounds or more.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
