Food Safety Manager

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary:

Gonzalez Food Products, a growing snack food manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Food Safety Manager to lead our food safety, regulatory compliance, and quality systems while promoting a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving our Food Safety and Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with SQF, HACCP, GMP, FDA, OSHA, and all applicable regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the company's Food Safety and Quality Management System

  • Maintain compliance with SQF, HACCP, GMP, FDA, FSMA, OSHA, and all customer requirements

  • Conduct internal audits, GMP inspections, sanitation inspections, and food safety assessments

  • Lead preparation for customer, regulatory, and third-party audits

  • Investigate customer complaints, non-conformances, deviations, and corrective actions (CAPA)

  • Monitor environmental monitoring programs, allergen controls, sanitation verification, and preventive controls

  • Ensure product specifications, labels, and documentation comply with regulatory requirements

  • Train employees on GMPs, food defense, food fraud, HACCP, allergen control, sanitation, and food safety practices

  • Analyze quality and food safety trends and recommend continuous improvements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, Food Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Minimum 2 years of food safety and quality management experience in food manufacturing

  • Strong knowledge of SQF, HACCP, GMP, FSMA, FDA regulations, and preventive controls

  • Experience preparing facilities for third-party audits

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Strong organizational and documentation skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality management systems

Preferred:

  • HACCP Certification

  • Internal Auditor Certification

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

  • Experience in snack food manufacturing

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent walking throughout the manufacturing facility

  • Ability to stand for extended periods

  • Occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds

  • Comfortable working in production, warehouse, and laboratory environments

  • Ability to work flexible hours when production or audit schedules require
