Description
The CACFP & SFSP Meal Program Lead is responsible for the administrative and operational oversight of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) across all Hockomock Area YMCA childcare, school-age, summer camp, and sponsored external sites. This position ensures full compliance with Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), USDA regulations, and YMCA Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) standards.
The Program Lead serves as the organization's internal subject matter expert for CACFP and SFSP, providing guidance and support to staff across all sites, maintaining accurate documentation and reporting, and ensuring high-quality program implementation that advances the YMCA's mission and community impact.
Essential Functions
  • Oversee CACFP and SFSP administrative functions, including documentation, reporting, claims, and recordkeeping.
  • Ensure compliance with DESE, USDA, and YMCA HEPA standards across all participating sites.
  • Maintain audit readiness and support monitoring visits, reviews, and corrective action processes.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for CACFP and SFSP operational support.
  • Conduct site monitoring visits to ensure compliance, provide coaching, and support accurate meal count and reporting practices.
  • Collaborate with leadership to address compliance concerns and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Complete required DESE trainings and maintain current knowledge of CACFP and SFSP regulations.
  • Train and support staff on program requirements, documentation, and best practices.
  • Ensure all participating sites complete required annual and seasonal trainings.
  • Partner with the Director of Food Access, Nutrition Director, and vendors to support compliant, nutritious meal service.
  • Assist with menu planning, site setup, and operational logistics for school year and summer meal programs.
  • Monitor participation, meal counts, reimbursements, and program data for accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Maintain organized tracking and reporting systems for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with YMCA leadership, site staff, vendors, and community partners to support successful program implementation.

Requirements
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in nutrition, public health, education, human services, or a related field preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience with CACFP, SFSP, USDA food programs, or other compliance-driven programs preferred.
  • Knowledge of DESE and USDA CACFP/SFSP regulations, or the ability to quickly learn and apply program requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage documentation, reporting, and multiple priorities.
  • Ability to train, support, and communicate effectively with staff across multiple sites.
  • Strong problem-solving, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data tracking systems.
