Job description

Sales Engineer Position Summary

This position is responsible for the revenue and profitability at large, diverse and complex customers that are strategic and vital to the health of the organization. Will utilize extensive sales and engineering experience to lead and develop business planning at the major accounts.

Position Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
  • Support sales in meeting revenue and growth targets with targeted customers
  • Meet and interact regularly with Engineering and technical contacts at assigned customers
  • Prepare/coordinate testing and drawing services for customers
  • Compile and analyze operational, test, and research data to recommend performance standards for newly designed and/or existing products
  • Proactively support all customers and internal cost savings efforts.
  • Participating in customer Value Analysis/Value Engineering events
  • Study and participate in the development of our core markets and industries.
  • Obtain and communicate technical information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations.
  • Some out-of-state travel is required from time to time, but this is generally limited to once per quarter and overnight.
Measurements
  • Achieving annual new revenue targets for OEM customer and targeted tier customers, in support of Key Account Mangers.
  • Engage customers consistently through planned technical interactions and onsite support.
  • Meets testing and technical support commitments with a focus on quality, responsiveness, and business impact.
  • Advances technical capability through ongoing development, industry participation, and internal knowledge sharing/training.
  • Supports margin improvement efforts and customer savings initiatives by identifying and enabling viable costsaving opportunities.
Qualifications-Education/Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or materials science engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience developing fastening solutions or solving critical application issues in the manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software – Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, bend, stretch, twist, stand, move about and lift to 40 lbs.
Competencies
  • Experience in manufacturing externally and/or internally threaded fasteners or stamped metal fastening elements.
  • Experience with Fastener testing concepts and procedures
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related Engineering field
  • Experience with Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel & Word
  • Possess a customer focused attitude
  • Possess strong mechanical and technical aptitude
  • Ability to organize resources and establish priorities
  • Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare comprehensive reports
  • Ability to effectively present information to internal and external customers
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy while meeting deadlines
  • Must be self-directed and possess a high level of personal organization and drive
  • Possess excellent communication skills including verbal, written and interpersonal
  • Interact well with employees at all levels within the organization and be able to build and maintain positive working relationships

Travel Requirements
  • Occasional interstate and rare international may be required.
