Job description

SUMMARY: The Senior Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring compliance with FAA regulations, company standards, and customer requirements by performing detailed inspections of aviation accessories. This role involves overseeing inspections and driving continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) processes.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Completes first run articles with support from engineering.
  • Ensure shelf life is monitored and expired chemicals are properly segregated throughout department.
  • Verify all maintenance and repair tasks have been performed correctly and in accordance with technical manuals, engineering drawings, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure traceability and accuracy of all documentation required for regulatory compliance.
  • Work closely with production teams to address and resolve quality concerns in real-time.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of aviation accessories to ensure compliance with FAA regulations, industry standards, and company quality assurance procedures.
  • Perform thorough inspections of incoming & in-process and final inspections of accessories to verify adherence to specifications and quality standards.
  • Use precision measuring instruments and testing equipment to inspect parts and assemblies for defects, wear, and deviations from specifications.
  • Document inspection results, non-conformances, and corrective actions in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and interpret technical documents/drawings and CMM’s to ensure accurate inspections.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to address and resolve quality issues.
  • Guide the workflow and direction of employees within the inspection process.
  • Act as a key point of contact for quality-related issues, collaborating with cross-function teams.
  • Train, mentor, and provide technical guidance to quality inspectors and other team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

  • 7+ years of inspection/relevant experience.
    • OR bachelor’s degree or relevant technical certifications may substitute for up to 3 years of the required experience.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of aviation accessories functionality.
  • Ability to determine product configuration at the piece part level based on technical documents, product design, training and past knowledge as required for configuration management.
  • Exercise decisiveness on product acceptance.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments (micrometers & calipers) and inspection equipment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical documents/drawings and CMM’s.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to exercise decisiveness on product acceptance.
  • Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated track record of dependability and accountability.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • 8+ years of experience in quality inspection in aviation industry with a focus in MRO.
  • Experience in quality management systems.

OTHER:
