Job description

Global functional food ingredients supplier is looking to fill an Account Manager position, based in the Northern California area (anywhere between San Francisco, San Jose, Modesto, and Sacramento). Product lines include Enzymes, Acidulants, Leavening Agents, Preservatives, Sweeteners, Food-Grade Phosphates, Hydrocolloids, Humectants, etc.  This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading global functional food ingredients supplier. It's also an excellent income opportunity. Overnight travel should be minimal <10%.

Responsibilities: Manage and aggressively grow an existing territory and account base in the Northern California region. Sell a broad range of functional food ingredients to the food & beverage manufacturing markets in the territory. The beverage market (wine, juice, brewing, etc.) is somewhat of a focus in this territory. The business requires selling on a commercial level and sometimes technical level to Food Scientists, Product Developers, and Purchasing personnel. Prospect for and develop new business opportunities at existing accounts, as well as develop new accounts. Manage pricing, trouble shooting, new product introductions, etc. Communicate effectively with management, suppliers, and customers. Develop the sales strategy for the territory. Effectively use a CRM program (Salesforce) to manage territory and account information.

Requirements: 5+ years of food ingredient, nutraceutical ingredient, or food industry related sales experience. A strong track record of sales success. High energy with the capacity to handle a large volume of activity. A college degree is required, but the concentration is open. Experience selling a broad product line of both commodities & specialties would be a plus. Must be very professional, self-motivated, have competitive drive, and the ability to manage many activities, products, accounts, pricing, etc.

Compensation: Base salary: $120,000 - $160,000 commensurate with experience. Bonus: Paid quarterly and based on gross profit dollar growth over prior year; 20% of base salary per year is realistic on average.
