Job description

We're looking for a Roadway Engineer to join our Transportation team at our Wichita location (in office). This individual will assist with the design of various projects that may include highways and roadways, bridge designs and rehabs, interchanges, rural roads, streets and intersections, urban arterials, pavement management, roundabouts, and more.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the design and production of DOT, turnpike, county, and municipal transportation projects.
  • Support the project manager in all aspects of design for transportation projects, including roadway design, bridge design, drainage, and traffic control.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to production staff.
  • Prepare and assist with project proposals, interviews, and client presentations.
  • Attend client meetings to ensure the design meets their needs and objectives.

Requirements:
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering.
  • 1-5+ years of experience in DOT, municipal, and county-related transportation projects.
  • Prior experience in roadway and/or bridge design.
  • Experience with Civil 3D and/or MicroStation products (OpenRoads, InRoads, or Geopak) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • PE license in Kansas is preferred (or the ability to obtain said license in a timely manner).
  • Knowledge of local standards and requirements is preferred.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to handle multiple project tasks. Excellent presentation, written communication, time management, and organizational skills are required.
  • Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines, be self-directed, exhibit good business judgment, and handle confidential information appropriately.
