Job Description:Compensation: $15/Hour Hours: 10 per week The student library assistant position serves as a member of the library public services team. Library assistants are managed by the circulation supervisors and access services librarian. Primary responsibilities include excellent customer service, assisting with circulation in person and on the phone.
Circulation includes : checking books in and out using library software (Folio), shelving books according to the Library of Congress call number system, helping library users find items in the catalog, and in the stacks. It also includes assisting patrons in the library computer lab. Knowledge of Adobe suite is helpful but not required. Receptive to carrying out all library related tasks assigned by library staff. Responsibilities may change in response to library priorities.
Requirements: - Must be an undergraduate student at MassArt
- Ability to sort efficiently in alphabetic or numeric order, and to develop a working understanding of the Library of Congress classification system of library materials arrangement.
- Ability to lift forty pounds and push carts up to 200 pounds.
- Ability to reach overhead to pull and shelve books.
- For fall 2026 employment, must be able to work one or more of the following shifts
- Wednesday 6:00pm to 9:00 pm
- Thursday 8:00 am to 1:00 pm
- Friday 8:00 am to 1:00 pm
