Job description

GARNEY CONSTRUCTION

The FMLA Specialist supports employee-owners with their leave and benefit needs, serving as a knowledgeable and compassionate resource throughout the leave process. This role is responsible for administering employee leaves, assisting with benefits enrollment, maintaining accurate leave and benefits records, and generating required reports. The FMLA Specialist ensures compliance with all applicable state, local, and federal regulations while proactively resolving issues as they arise. Going above and beyond transactional support, this role focuses on educating employee-owners about available leave options and benefit programs to help them make informed decisions.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
  • Respond to employee questions regarding FMLA, other leave programs, and short-term and long-term disability
  • Assist employees with the FMLA application process as needed
  • Maintain accurate leave records and ensure required documentation is completed and submitted timely
  • Review leave requests under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Process benefit updates related to Qualifying Life Events (QLEs)
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with the leave administration partner to ensure accurate and timely case processing
  • Support administration of medical, dental, vision, accident, disability, life insurance, 401(k), and wellness programs
  • Process benefit enrollments and update beneficiary coverage as needed
  • Assist with the development of training materials and the translation of benefit-related documents as required
  • Prepare and maintain weekly and monthly absentee reports
  • Generate additional reports as requested to support HR and compliance initiative
  • Administrative & Cross-Functional Support
  • Monitor and respond to employee inquiries via phone and benefits inbox
  • Respond to employee emails and calls related to benefits and leave topics
