Employment Advice & Counsel Associate Attorney

Direct Counsel is seeking a mid-to-senior level Employment Advice & Counsel Associate Attorney with 5+ years of employment law experience to join a sophisticated labor and employment practice in Seattle. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced employment attorney focused on counseling employers and handling a broad range of workplace matters.

Position Overview

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience providing day-to-day employment advice and counseling to employers, with a strong background in employment policies, workplace compliance, employee relations, and employment agreements. The attorney will work directly with clients while collaborating with experienced attorneys in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities
  • Counsel employers on day-to-day employment law matters.

  • Advise clients regarding workplace policies, procedures, and compliance.

  • Draft and review employment policies and procedures.

  • Advise employers regarding Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) matters.

  • Draft and review employment contracts and agreements.

  • Provide employment law training to management and employees.

  • Conduct workplace investigations.

  • Research and analyze developing employment laws and regulations.

  • Provide practical, business-focused legal advice to clients.

  • Manage multiple matters and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Collaborate with attorneys and professionals across the practice.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of employment law experience.

  • Strong background in employment advice and counseling required.

  • Experience counseling employers on day-to-day workplace issues.

  • Experience drafting and reviewing employment policies and procedures.

  • Experience handling ADA and FMLA matters.

  • Experience drafting employment contracts and agreements.

  • Workplace investigation and training experience.

  • Excellent academic credentials.

  • Strong legal writing, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Excellent judgment and attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively.

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

  • Admission to the Washington Bar required.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $195,000–$215,000 annually, with eligibility for performance-based bonuses. Actual compensation will depend on experience, seniority, skills, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
