Position Summary: Under the general supervision of the Associate Vice President for Facilities, the Facilities Maintenance Engineer (FME) serves as the University's lead engineer and technical expert for facility and associated infrastructure maintenance issues in support of the Facilities Management organization, which maintains over 5.5 million square feet of facility space. The FME conducts investigations, evaluations, and research necessary to ensure campus facilities, equipment, and infrastructure operate in a reliable and efficient manner. The FME utilizes engineering theories and principles in order to provide guidance and recommendations to internal FM departments to solve current facility, equipment, or utility system issues for various systems. These systems areas include, but are not limited to, HVAC, boilers, compressed air, roofing, building controls and automation, interior and exterior lighting, and Utility systems. Additionally, the FME will develop long and short-range plans for capital renewal and provide input in the review and execution of facility design and construction projects. Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology, facilities engineering, or related field.
At least five years of experience in managing facility mechanical systems, maintenance, or facility engineering design experience (HVAC, boilers, chilled water, compressed air, roofing, building controls and automation, and interior and exterior lighting).
At least three years of experience monitoring contractor performance and compliance for existing service and preventative maintenance contracts and agreements.
Equipment/process troubleshooting skills.
Ability to manage contractors.
Able to interpret and understand technical instructions and design/construction drawings.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Valid driver's license with low-risk driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

Possesses a working technical knowledge of facility and equipment maintenance programs, including planning and scheduling of maintenance and repair activities.
Experience performing facility/equipment maintenance and repair in a higher education setting.
Experience working with Johnson Controls building automation system or a similar system.
Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management System programs (TMA) to coordinate and validate system maintenance and operation.
Experience working with research lab systems and controls.
Ability to promote inclusive excellence in the workplace.
