Summary and Objectiveย ย
The Senior Staff Accountant is a key member of the Finance team responsible for managing complex accounting activities, ensuring compliance with GAAP and SEC reporting standards, and driving process improvements. This role requires advanced technicalย expertise, leadership in accounting operations, and the ability to mentor junior staff while supporting strategic financial initiatives.ย
Essential Functionsย

- Advanced General Ledger Management: Prepare, review, and approve journal entries; reconcile complex accounts; ensure accuracy of financial records across multiple entities.ย
- Month-End & Year-End Close Leadership: Assist with managing the close processes, ensuringย timelyย andย accurateย reporting; prepare advanced supporting schedules and financial statements.ย
- Compliance & Internal Controls: Ensure adherence to SOX and company policies;ย assistย in leading external audit preparation and serve as primary liaison with auditors.ย
- Process Improvement & Automation:ย Identifyย and implement efficiencies in accounting workflows; support ERP enhancements and automation initiatives.ย
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Operations, Sales, and other departments to ensureย accurateย financial data and support strategic projects.ย
- Leadership & Mentorship: Provide guidance and training to junior accounting staff; act as a subject matter expert for complex accounting issues.ย
- Special Projects: Lead critical projects including systemย upgrades andย policy development.ย
Skills and Abilitiesย ย ย
- Advancedย knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.ย
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills withย abilityย to interpret complex data.ย
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) for interaction with all organizational levels.ย
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.ย
- Leadership qualities with experience mentoring or supervising staff.ย
- Highย proficiencyย in MS Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros) and ERP systems (Sage Intacct preferred).ย
- Adaptability to evolving business needs and commitment to continuous improvement.ย
