Position Summary

Tacten is recruiting for Rope Access Journeyperson Pipefitters to support our upcoming Fall Turnaround at our client site, CNRL, in Fort McMurray, AB!

Do you have experience working as a Pipefitter on industrial sites during turnarounds and certified in rope access or interested in becoming certified? If so, apply today!

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a major turnaround project, expand your technical experience, and work alongside industry-leading professionals in a dynamic industrial setting.

Position Details:

  • Start Date: ~September 8, 2026
  • Location/Site: CNRL Albian & Horizon - Fort McMurray, AB
  • Rotation: 6/1, 12 hour shifts
  • Travel: Fly-in/Fly-out from Alberta hubs, Edmonton or Calgary 
  • Camp accommodations provided
  • Certification Requirements: IRATA certification required (or willingness to obtain prior to project start)
Responsibilities

Installation and Assembly:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and isometric drawings.
  • Assemble and install piping systems and related equipment following specifications.
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes using various tools and equipment.
  • Install supports, valves, and other control equipment.

Maintenance and Repair:

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair piping systems.
  • Perform regular maintenance to ensure system integrity and performance.
  • Replace defective or worn components as necessary.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure work is performed in compliance with relevant building codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work collaboratively with other trades, contractors, and team members.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and project managers regarding project status and any issues encountered.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to apprentices and less experienced pipefitters.
Requirements

Position Requirements:

  • Journeyperson Pipefitter Certification required
  • IRATA Level 1 certificate required, or willingness to obtain  - training can be provided.

Safety Certifications:

  • CSTS-09 -or- OSSA BSO 
  • CSO (Common Safety Orientation)
