THE POSITION

Our roster has an opening with your name on it

The New Ventures Director position is a highly strategic and operational role requiring the candidate to assemble strategies to ensure FanDuel’s position as the #1 operator long-term and to manage the entry and launch of new products in the short to medium-term. The Director will be responsible for crafting and driving the strategies for FanDuel’s expansion into new verticals and work in partnership with Engineering, Product, and Marketing to launch and incubate the new products through the first year of launch. The New Ventures Director will be responsible for both launching the new product (from ideation through execution) and for the financial performance of the new product in the first year. The Director will forecast the business, assemble the business case and budget ask for necessary investments, build the appropriate team, and manage the P&L to hit revenue and profitability targets. The role entails presenting strategies and results to FanDuel’s Executive Leadership Team, ensuring alignment across the organization, working with Flutter stakeholders, and leading cross-functional teams to penetrate new markets.

In addition to the specific responsibilities outlined above, employees may be required to perform other such duties as assigned by the Company. This ensures operational flexibility and allows the Company to meet evolving business needs.

THE GAME PLAN

  • Partner with Vice President New Ventures to identify, assess, and prioritize strategically innovative opportunities to grow future FD TAM beyond existing products via external partnerships/M&A and by leveraging Flutter resources/existing products.
  • Define short- and long-term growth strategy for a New Ventures portfolio product, and partner with Product & Marketing leaders to plan & execute against the strategy.
  • Forecast new business lines’ revenue growth & budget for investment to achieve growth projections; own & manage the P&L, ensuring the product achieves revenue & profitability targets.
  • Present New Ventures strategy, results, & recommendations to members of FanDuel ELT & other functional leaders with a focus on Group-wide impact & outcomes
  • Develop a deep understanding of FanDuel’s business along with emerging and competitive trends in the real money gaming (RMG) space or adjacencies both domestically and internationally. Partner with Legal/Government Affairs team to understand regulatory environment for emerging RMG trends.
  • Create robust business cases and provide recommendations on whether to enter new verticals with financial projections, strategic considerations, risks, limitations, possible upsides, etc.
  • Build and launch new products by partnering with key stakeholders including Product, Commercial, Marketing, Operations, Legal, and Engineering to gain organizational alignment on product launches.
  • Oversee Year 1 of new venture operations, developing business strategy along with KPIs for measuring success and budgeting for P&L management.
  • Manage and develop team members, supporting project teams with structuring analysis and developing hypotheses, as well as overall professional development and growth.

What we’re looking for in our next teammate

  • 6+ years, or 4+ years post-MBA, working in the gaming/gambling industry, management / strategy consulting, venture capital or a relevant adjacency
  • Ability to take broad direction, use initiative, and translate that into actionable output. Strong numerical proficiency and analytical capability.
  • Hands-on experience working autonomously to deliver robust business cases, which draw on a mix of hard data and sensible assumptions.
  • Strong financial modeling and deck making skills to tell a convincing story to executive leadership.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; skilled at influencing and building relationships, both internal Flutter and external 3rd parties, across the organization at all levels, including with senior leadership
  • Strong organizational & project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple projects at once
  • Experience and passion for managing and developing junior team members

The applicable salary range for this position is $144,000 – $198,000 USD, which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation. This role includes paid personal time off and 14 paid company holidays. FanDuel offers paid sick time in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
