Job description
Inability to perform these responsibilities, with or without an accommodation, may result in disqualification from the position. Assists Providers in performing image-guided procedures using fluoroscopic methods following standardized protocols. Administers contrast safely as needed while following standardized protocols.
Utilizes a variety of highly specialized radiologic and/or fluoroscopic equipment and techniques to perform a diverse range of diagnostic, interventional and/or invasive procedures in accordance with established scope of practice guidelines. Ensures procedures are performed safely and with the highest quality standards, maintaining a consistent focus on patient‑centric care. Prepares patients for procedures, including sterilizing the area, monitoring vital signs and providing comfort.
Maintains a strict sterile field adhering to safety protocols. Responds to inquiries from patients and family members, provides clear information regarding diagnostic testing and expected result timelines. Collaborates with team members across OU Health including Providers to provide exceptional patient care.
Conducts post-testing quality reviews to confirm that all required elements are completed, documented and align with departmental and accreditation standards. Transfers images and data to the appropriate electronic health system, enters technical data/findings and prepares study for reporting by physician. Performs quality control checks, cleaning, disinfecting and other equipment maintenance tasks per manufacturer instructions for use and other regulatory guidelines.
Assists with quality assurance and performance improvement tasks as requested. May provide on-call clinical coverage outside regularly scheduled duty hours on weekdays, weekends and holidays as assigned. May support OU Health's academic partnerships by actively engaging in teaching of students in the radiologic program.
May serve as a departmental preceptor to provide instruction and mentorship to new or less experienced team members. Assists with onboarding of new team members. General Responsibilities: Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Education: Graduate of an accredited imaging/radiology program as defined by ARRT or Completion of JRCERT accredited Military Educational Program is accepted in lieu of other educational requirements. Experience: At least 1 year of experience as a Fluoroscopy Tech required. License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
ARRT(RT) Certification required at hire. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrates knowledge and skill in applying principles of radiologic technology, medical imaging, positioning of patients and medical ethics. Demonstrates foundational knowledge of fluoroscopy equipment operation, image optimization, and dose reduction strategies.
Applies core knowledge and understanding of anatomy and physiology related radiologic technologies associated with imaging specialty credentialed to perform. Demonstrates ability and skill to apply theory, practices and techniques to perform, post-process, analyze and annotate study data or procedure documentation. Ability to apply knowledge of sterile fields consistently ensuring a safe environment for the patient Strong verbal and written communication skills Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and patient populations served Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to apply HIPAA guidelines and standards.
Ability to prioritize and complete clinical or non-clinical work assignments Ability to multi-task and remain calm in stressful situations Ability to work as part of a diverse team and communicate effectively with others. Displays consistency and dependability by reporting to work as scheduled. Ability to be sensitive to patients’ physical and psychological needs.
