What are fluffers in the film industry?

A fluffer is a term that originated in the adult film industry, referring to a person whose job is to help male actors maintain their erections during filming. The role has become largely obsolete due to advances in medical aids and changes in production practices. The term is sometimes used more broadly to describe someone who prepares or supports performers, but its primary association is with adult film sets. It's not a mainstream film industry job and is largely considered a historical or niche role.
