Position Summary

The General Manager is responsible for leading the daily operations of a Fluent dispensary while ensuring compliance with all state regulations and company policies. This role oversees sales performance, patient experience, inventory management, financial accountability, team development, and operational excellence.

The General Manager is responsible for creating a culture of accountability, coaching and developing employees, and ensuring the dispensary consistently delivers exceptional patient care and business results.

Training Notice: During the first two weeks of employment, all new dispensary employees participate in a paid training period pending successful completion of required background and drug screening.


Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Development
  • Recruit, develop, coach, and retain a high-performing dispensary team.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging workplace culture.
  • Schedule, train, mentor, and evaluate team members.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, coaching sessions, and development planning.
  • Partner with Human Resources on hiring, compensation recommendations, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Lead store meetings and communicate company updates, policies, industry developments, and product knowledge.
Sales & Business Performance
  • Analyze sales trends and develop strategies to achieve or exceed sales goals.
  • Monitor individual and team performance using key performance metrics.
  • Develop action plans to improve productivity and profitability.
  • Manage operating expenses while maximizing store performance.
  • Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual business reviews.
Patient Experience
  • Ensure every patient receives exceptional service in a welcoming, compassionate, and professional environment.
  • Promote a culture centered on patient education and satisfaction.
  • Maintain the highest standards of presentation, cleanliness, and operational excellence.
Operations & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable state regulations, company policies, SOPs, HIPAA requirements, and Medical Marijuana Program standards.
  • Conduct operational and inventory audits.
  • Oversee inventory accuracy, vault operations, and inventory movement throughout the dispensary.
  • Ensure accurate cash handling, deposits, reconciliations, and reporting using BioTrack.
  • Coordinate daily operations with cultivation, delivery, security, and support departments.
  • Stay informed of regulatory changes and industry developments.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify operational challenges and implement process improvements.
  • Resolve issues efficiently while promoting collaboration and accountability.
  • Support community outreach initiatives and strengthen Fluent's local presence.

QualificationsRequired
  • Five or more years of retail sales experience.
  • Minimum three years of management experience leading retail teams.
  • Experience managing high-performing customer-facing teams.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and retail technology systems.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts as business needs require.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated industry.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must successfully pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Business Management, or a related field.
  • Experience in the medical cannabis, healthcare, pharmacy, or other regulated retail industries.
  • Community outreach or local business engagement experience.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position provides direct leadership for the entire dispensary team and is responsible for employee hiring, coaching, scheduling, performance management, and professional development.


Work Environment

This position operates in a professional retail dispensary environment and regularly uses computers, tablets, telephones, and other standard office equipment.


Physical Requirements

The General Manager must be able to:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently use hands and arms to operate equipment and assist patients.

  • Occasionally lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds.

Schedule & Travel
