Manager of Floral Design and Event Decor

Summary: Thanksgiving Point is seeking a creative, experienced, and hands-on Floral & Event Decor Manager to lead the planning, design, production, and execution of floral and decorative elements across the organization. Reporting to the Campus Events leadership team, this position is responsible for managing the Floral and Site Decor Department while actively participating in the design and installation of floral arrangements and decorative experiences that enhance weddings, corporate events, development events, and Thanksgiving Point signature events.

This position also oversees site décor and seasonal installations throughout Thanksgiving Point’s museums, attractions, and event venues, ensuring that guests experience a beautiful, cohesive, and inspiring environment year-round.

The ideal candidate possesses strong artistic abilities, exceptional organizational skills, and proven experience in floral design, event décor, and team leadership.

Responsibilities:

Floral Design & Event Production

  • Lead the design, creation, and execution of floral arrangements for:
    • Weddings
    • Corporate events
    • Development and donor events
    • Signature experiences and festivals
    • VIP and special events
  • Personally participate in floral production and installation activities.
  • Develop unique floral concepts and décor packages tailored to client and event needs.
  • Source and maintain relationships with floral vendors and suppliers.
  • Ensure floral quality, freshness, and inventory management.

Site Decor Management

  • Oversee all decorative elements throughout Thanksgiving Point's museums, attractions, and event spaces.
  • Plan and execute seasonal décor installations and themed experiences.
  • Manage décor assets, inventory, storage, and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Facilities, Curatorial, and Marketing teams to maintain consistent aesthetics and brand standards.
  • Develop and implement décor plans that elevate the guest experience across campus.

Leadership & Department Management

  • Direct and supervise the Floral and Site Decor team.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and develop department staff and seasonal team members.
  • Establish department standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Manage departmental budgets and purchasing.
  • Monitor inventory and ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and exceptional service.

Event Collaboration

  • Work closely with Event Managers, Sales, Catering, AV, Set-Up, and Signature Experience teams to ensure successful event execution.
  • Attend planning meetings and assist with event logistics and installations.
  • Support large-scale signature events including:
    • Tulip Festival
    • Imaginaria
    • Garden of Quilts
    • Luminaria
    • Additional campus-wide celebrations and experiences

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in floral design, event décor, or hospitality design.
  • Demonstrated experience managing site décor or large-scale decorative installations.
  • Hands-on expertise in floral arrangement and event production.
  • Strong creative vision and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical installation work.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.
  • Pass a background check
  • At least 21 yrs old.

Preferred

  • Degree or certification in Floral Design, Horticulture, Interior Design, Event Management, or related field.
  • Experience leading and supervising teams.
