Position Purpose

The Floral Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of the Floral Department to ensure exceptional customer service, product quality, visual merchandising excellence, sales growth, profitability, and team development. This position oversees daily department operations, manages inventory and shrink, creates attractive floral displays, coordinates special orders, and develops a high-performing team that delivers an outstanding shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities Department Operations
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Floral Department.
  • Ensure department standards for cleanliness, organization, safety, and product quality are consistently maintained.
  • Execute company programs, seasonal events, and promotional initiatives.
  • Maintain department readiness with appropriate inventory levels and attractive merchandise presentation.
  • Monitor department performance and implement operational improvements as needed.
Customer Service
  • Deliver and promote exceptional customer service throughout the department.
  • Assist customers with floral selections, custom arrangements, special orders, and event planning needs.
  • Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Build customer relationships that drive loyalty and repeat business.
  • Ensure associates provide knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient service.
Merchandising & Product Presentation
  • Design and maintain visually appealing displays that enhance the shopping experience and drive sales.
  • Execute seasonal, holiday, and promotional merchandising plans.
  • Ensure all products are properly priced, signed, and displayed according to company standards.
  • Monitor sales trends and adjust merchandise displays to maximize opportunities.
  • Coordinate custom floral arrangements and special event orders.
Inventory Management & Shrink Control
  • Manage inventory levels to support sales and minimize waste.
  • Order floral products, supplies, plants, and seasonal merchandise based on sales trends and business needs.
  • Monitor product rotation and freshness to reduce shrink.
  • Conduct inventory counts and maintain accurate records.
  • Identify opportunities to improve inventory management and operational efficiency.
Product Quality & Freshness
  • Ensure all floral products meet company standards for quality and presentation.
  • Monitor flower conditioning, watering, trimming, storage, and care practices.
  • Remove damaged, wilted, or unsellable merchandise promptly.
  • Maintain proper cooler temperatures and handling procedures.
  • Ensure freshness standards are consistently achieved.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Recruit, train, coach, and develop Floral Department associates.
  • Provide ongoing performance feedback and accountability.
  • Create schedules that align labor resources with business demands.
  • Foster teamwork, engagement, and a positive working environment.
  • Support succession planning and career development opportunities.
Financial Accountability
  • Manage labor expenses and department operating costs.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous floral, merchandising, retail, or related experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of floral products, floral design techniques, plant care, and merchandising practices.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer, scheduling, and reporting skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
