Job description

Estimator – Flooring

Summary

The Estimator will support the Project Management and Sales teams by preparing accurate takeoffs and cost estimates for commercial flooring projects. This role is responsible for gathering project information, developing detailed estimates for materials and labor, and ensuring accuracy throughout the quoting process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and verify installation drawings for accuracy and completeness
  • Request and collect project documentation from clients, general contractors, and architectural partners
  • Prepare detailed takeoffs and estimating "keys" using estimating software
  • Track estimating time per project for budgeting, quoting, and billing purposes
  • Collaborate with Sales and Project Management teams to ensure project alignment
  • Provide technical support during the estimating and pre-construction phases
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
  • Support overall team goals related to efficiency, accuracy, and client satisfaction
  • Perform additional duties as needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of related flooring or construction estimating experience preferred
  • Experience with commercial flooring, installation, or project management strongly preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to interpret project requirements and clarify key details with stakeholders
  • Flexibility to work extended hours as needed to meet project deadlines

Technical Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents
  • Proficiency in basic math, including measurements, percentages, and calculations related to area and volume
  • Familiarity with estimating software and project documentation processes

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 30–40 pounds
  • Occasional travel to job sites may be required
  • Valid driver's license required

Additional Information

  • This role may require occasional evenings or weekend work depending on project demands
