Job description

Electrician, Maintenance Apprentice
General Description:
The Apprentice is responsible for completing maintenance and training activities in a timely manner. This person will work closely with the Electrical Maintenance Journeyperson(s) in conducting preventative and corrective maintenance and/or troubleshooting of the building, machinery, and equipment. The position requires a highly motivated individual, who is willing to learn, take classes outside of the workplace as required for apprenticeship, and apply acquired skills. Overtime as well as weekend and holiday work hours are required, as needed. Apprentice work hours will vary across shifts periodically to facilitate related instruction scheduling and on-the-job training.
This position requires you to know and understand the current specifications of the Quality Policy and procedures, the Safety and Environmental Policy and procedures, and contribute to the achievement of the company objectives. In addition to the duties listed above, the position holder must carry out tasks assigned by their supervisor that are essentially related to the duties of the job. The Electrician Maintenance Apprentice will report to the Maintenance Supervisor. Apprenticeship will begin upon successfully completing a 60-day employment probationary period.
Responsibilities:
• Support and follow the company safety, environmental, and quality programs.
• Attend courses as stated in the apprenticeship agreement.
• Communicate across departments and shifts through written & verbal media.
• Complete work orders in a timely fashion.
• Perform preventative maintenance.
• Order parts when needed.
• Perform all other work as deemed necessary by supervision.
Qualification Requirements:
• High School diploma or GED.
• Score of 50% or higher on each the Ramsey Electrical, Ramsey Mechanical.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Strong computer skills.
• Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
• Previous hand tools experience.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands, arms and body.
• Ability to work at heights of 20+ feet.
Equipment Used:
Company computers, tablets, etc. with appropriate software, gauges, measuring devices, and personal protective equipment. Electrical test equipment, hand and power tools, programmers, weld test equipment, high lift, forklift and cart, protective gloves, armguards, earplugs and safety glasses.
