What is a flight physician assistant?

A Flight Physician Assistant (PA) is a medical professional trained to provide critical and emergency care in aeromedical environments, such as air ambulances or evacuation flights. They work alongside flight physicians, paramedics, and other medical personnel to assess, stabilize, and treat patients during transport. Their responsibilities include performing emergency procedures, managing life support equipment, and ensuring patient safety in high-pressure situations. Flight PAs typically have experience in emergency medicine or critical care and may require additional certifications in aeromedical transport.
