Job description

Overview

The Director of Aircraft Maintenance is responsible for the continued Airworthiness of the fleet and other aircraft under our management as well as contracted maintenance.  The role will develop, implement, and execute policies and procedures that help ensure the safety, reliability, and dispatch ability of owned and operated aircraft. 

Work Environment:

  • Location:  NV5 Hangar - Sheboygan Falls, WI
  • Travel up to 25% of the time

Responsibilities

 Primary Accountabilities: Primary accountabilities include but are not limited to the following. 

Maintenance Operations (60% of the time):  

  • Advise and provide regular reports to the Vice President of Data Acquisition. Coordinates aircraft maintenance with Operations Managers and Flight Acquisition. Managers to minimize aircraft downtime and impact on acquisition. 
  • Responsible for tracking and oversight of aircraft; Develop and maintain real time, online tracking program. 
  • Coordinate sensor/equipment installations with engineering support. 
  • Perform maintenance on aircraft as needed to backfill. 
  • Assist in development and adherence to the Corporate Maintenance budget, including creating Asset Requests and Purchase orders. 
  • Provide leadership and oversight to all maintenance facilities nationwide. 
  • Evaluate and expand maintenance to new sites as needed.  Equip hangars with proper resources and personnel. 
  • Develop/Negotiate contractual relationships with off-site maintenance facilities. 
  • Manage spare parts inventory. 
  • Ensure the maintenance of all ground support equipment located at the hangar. 

Regulatory / Compliance (30 perect of the time): 

  • Manage FAA record compliance. 
  • Supervise vendor compliance during outsourced inspections. 
  • Understand and comply with ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements applicable to our business. 
  • Work with the Pilots to create and maintain the highest level of safety. 
  • Oversee the currency of maintenance publications and manuals for currency. 

Personnel Management (10 perect of the time): 

  • Manage Aircraft Maintenance Technicians and hangar facilities 
  • Establish a recurrence training schedule to maintain and enhance technician capabilities. 
Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  • High School diploma or the equivalent 
  • 7+ years progressive experience as an AMT with an Inspection Authorization, or related experience 
  • 3+ years of Aviation Management experience 
  • Thorough working knowledge of all current FAA regulations 

 Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Associate or bachelor's degree 
  • Cessna Caravan or Conquest, King Air 200 and PT6 & TPE331 experience 
  • Formal manufacture training 

Required Skills:  

  • Troubleshooting 
  • Able to handle multiple projects with complex technical and administrative details 
  • Ability to lead, coach, and mentor others 
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information 
  • Ability to work under pressure and be adaptable to change on a consistent basis 
  • Thorough knowledge and expertise utilizing productivity software. 

 Physical Requirements: 

  • Drive aircraft tug and other ground service equipment 
  • Withstand seasonal flight operations including exposure to the cold and heat 
  • Ability to lift to 75 lbs. 
  • Travel required:  may travel up to 25% of time 
  • Be accessible 24/7
