ResponsibilitiesPosition Summary

The Inflight Training Instructor is responsible for the delivery of PSA related training material and all FAA approved Flight Attendant training programs to PSA Airlines Flight Attendants and/or New Hire students at the American Airlines Flight Training Center in Charlotte, NC, or other designated locations.

Job Responsibilities
  • Thoroughly prepare for instruction sessions by acquiring comprehensive knowledge in the specific area of instruction.
  • Deliver Flight Attendant Training program material(s) in a clear, logical, and organized manner during training sessions using applicable instructional methods, materials, and techniques.
  • Effectively utilize the training sessions to accommodate the diverse learning needs of participants by following the lesson plans, guides, and other training aids.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in all areas of Inflight Services policies and procedures; serve as a resource for Flight Attendants.
  • Serve as a role model and mentor Flight Attendants in performance, behavior, appearance, and demeanor.
  • Evaluate and coach Flight Attendants and new hire trainees to ensure performance standards are met.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to work as part of a team whether working in training sessions or on assigned projects/programs.
  • Adhere to training policies.
  • Complete the required training forms accurately and following established procedures.
  • Be aware of and utilize the equipment required for each element of training.
  • Understand and be capable of explaining the operation of equipment and/or demonstration of skills (e.g. commanding evacuation, firefighting).
  • Ensure that devices used for training and testing are in working condition. Devices which fail to meet the inspection criteria must be reported and corrected by appropriate maintenance personnel prior to use.
  • Challenges/hazards associated with operating equipment in a training environment and methods to mitigate exposure to bodily injury for instructor, students, or other individuals.
  • Must successfully complete all required training events.
  • Must successfully complete all qualification trainings for class instruction and complete all applicable instruction observation assessments.
  • Conduct periodic line checks/observation flights.
  • Complete administrative duties in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Serve as a liaison between Infight Training and other departments.
  • Responsible for the Company's Security and Safety Management System (SMS) and associated Safety Risk Management and Safety Assurance outputs.
  • Performs and completes all other projects, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.
Position SpecificsQualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Flight Attendant experience.
  • FAA Certification.
  • Secure, retain, and maintain currency as a PSA Airlines Flight Attendant.
  • Be able to maintain and display a working knowledge of FAA requirements as well as all company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to speak/read/write in English. 
  • If hired, must be able to demonstrate that you are authorized to work in the U.S.  

Preferred

  • Thorough knowledge of PSA Inflight Policies and Procedures, Inflight Training methodologies, and the use of the Electronic Flight Bag (EFB).
  • Experience teaching adults in a classroom setting.
  • Active Check Flight Attendant.
  • Ability to utilize all Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
Additional Information

Delegation: In absence, responsibilities delegated to Chief Inflight Training Instructor or Manager of Inflight Standards and Delivery.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This is not a supervisory position.

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, facsimile machines and filing cabinets.Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
