Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Flexographic Print / Flexo Press Operator to set up, operate, and monitor flexographic printing equipment used to produce high-quality printed materials for customer applications.

This position requires at least 3 years of hands-on flexographic printing or closely related narrow-web converting experience. The successful candidate will be capable of independently performing press setups and changeovers, mounting plates, preparing inks, controlling print registration and quality, troubleshooting process issues, and maintaining accurate production and quality records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate flexographic printing equipment according to work orders, drawings, approved artwork, and product specifications.
  • Install and remove print cylinders, plates, anilox rolls, doctor blades, ink pans, and other press components as required.
  • Prepare, mix, adjust, and manage inks to achieve approved color and print-quality requirements.
  • Set and monitor registration, impression, web tension, print alignment, ink coverage, drying, and rewind quality throughout production runs.
  • Process pressure-sensitive adhesive materials, films, papers, liners, foams, and other flexible web materials.
  • Inspect printed material for registration, color, print clarity, defects, contamination, and overall appearance.
  • Use approved inspection tools and samples to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Troubleshoot common printing issues such as poor registration, color variation, dirty print, ink transfer, streaking, web tracking, and tension-related defects.
  • Complete work orders, material usage records, ink documentation, labels, inspection forms, and other required production paperwork accurately.
  • Clean press components, ink systems, tooling, and work areas in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Communicate material, equipment, quality, or process concerns promptly to supervision and Quality.
  • Support continuous improvement, standard work, training, and equipment-maintenance activities as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience operating flexographic printing equipment or comparable narrow-web printing/converting machinery.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently complete press setups, changeovers, adjustments, and production runs.
  • Experience mounting plates, setting registration, controlling print quality, and working with inks.
  • Experience working with roll-fed materials such as pressure-sensitive adhesives, films, liners, tapes, papers, or other flexible substrates.
  • Working knowledge of web handling, tension control, rewind quality, and print defect identification.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to make accurate machine adjustments and troubleshoot routine press issues.
  • Ability to read work orders, specifications, drawings, approved samples, and production documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing consistent, high-quality work.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Narrow-web, one-color, or multi-color flexographic press operation.
  • Printing on films, release liners, pressure-sensitive adhesive materials, tapes, or specialty converted products.
  • Experience with anilox selection, plate mounting, ink viscosity control, color matching, and print inspection.
  • Experience with roll-to-roll production, rewinding, and tension-sensitive materials.
  • Use of inspection tools, color standards, approved samples, or measurement devices.
  • Experience in an ISO-controlled, medical-device, or quality-regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience training or supporting developing operators.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and operate manufacturing equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move materials, tooling, ink containers, cores, and machine components as required for the position.
  • Ability to safely handle rolls and use material-handling equipment.
  • Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive production tasks.
  • Ability to visually inspect printed material for color, registration, print defects, and general quality.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and safely handle inks and cleaning materials according to company procedures.
