What is flexo printing?

A Flexo Printing job involves operating and maintaining flexographic printing machines, which use flexible relief plates to print on various materials like paper, plastic, and foil. Responsibilities include setting up the press, mixing inks, adjusting printing settings, and ensuring print quality meets specifications. Operators also troubleshoot issues, perform maintenance, and follow safety guidelines. This role requires attention to detail, good mechanical skills, and knowledge of printing processes.

What does a flexo printing worker do?

A typical day in Flexo Printing involves setting up flexographic presses, preparing printing plates, mixing inks, and closely monitoring print runs to ensure quality and consistency. You’ll frequently inspect printed materials, make adjustments to machine settings, and maintain equipment to minimize downtime. Collaboration is common with prepress teams, quality assurance staff, and sometimes customers, especially when new jobs or custom print specifications are involved. While the work can be fast-paced and deadline-driven, it offers variety and hands-on problem-solving opportunities for those who enjoy technical and production-focused roles.

What skills and qualifications are needed for flexo printing?

To thrive in Flexo Printing, candidates typically need a solid understanding of printing processes, color theory, and experience operating flexographic presses, often supported by a technical diploma or relevant on-the-job training. Familiarity with prepress software, quality control instruments, and maintenance tools is commonly required, as is knowledge of safety regulations in a print production environment. Attention to detail, teamwork, and problem-solving skills are crucial soft skills for managing print quality and meeting tight deadlines. These skills ensure efficient production, high-quality output, and a safe, collaborative workplace.
