Position Overview -
AJM Packaging Corporation, one of America's leading manufacturers of paper products, including paper plates, cups, bowls and bags, is seeking Printing Press Technicians for our Southgate, MI location.
We seek individuals with experience in a production environment with direct or supporting experience in setting up, adjusting and/or maintaining high speed printing equipment and machinery. A commitment to quality, safety and productivity is essential, and we welcome candidates who want to grow their careers to higher levels of responsibility and/or leadership positions.
Responsibilities & Duties -
  • Troubleshoot common machine/quality problems and make necessary mechanic adjustments to the correct problems.
  • Monitor the press constantly during operation and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality.
  • Ensure that the press and other assigned equipment is maintained in safe operating condition.
  • Operate Infeed and Outfeed fool automation system.
  • Assist in webbing press.
  • Review work order/schedule and set up machine and direct the flow of raw materials to the printing presses.
  • Strip and prepare paper rolls for delivery to their respective printing presses.
  • Operate and troubleshoot the automated roll movement and unwind/rewind systems.
  • Perform any preventative maintenance activities as scheduled or required.
  • Immediately notify appropriate personnel of any issues with automation equipment or finished goods.
  • Assist in tracking the inventory levels of printing supplies.
  • Adhere to all safety rules, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Complete all other duties the Supervisor deems necessary.

Minimum Requirements -
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience with Microsoft AX is a plus.
  • 1 year or more of manufacturing experience.

AJM was originally founded as a distributor of commercial paper, plastic and foil packaging products and related cleaning, janitorial and order processing supplies and equipment by three (3) Detroit area brothers operating out of a small warehouse in Detroit's Eastern Market.
