Job description

Apex Placement & Consulting has partnered with an exciting print manufacturing organization seeking an experienced Head Pressman to join their team in Taylor, MI. In this role, you will operate and maintain sheetfed and web offset printing presses while producing high-quality printed products. The ideal candidate has either sheetfed or web offset printing press experience.WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU:- Shift Schedules:1. 1st Shift-Monday-Thursday 6:00am-4:00pm (OT as needed) 2. 2nd Shift-Monday- Thursday 4:00pm-2:00am (OT as needed)

  • Competitive hourly wage $20-$27/hr based on experience

Essential Responsibilities:1. Set up, operate, and maintain offset printing presses.

  1. Review job tickets and verify production requirements.
  2. Monitor registration, color quality, ink density, and overall print quality.
  3. Perform make-readies and press adjustments to maximize efficiency and minimize waste.
  4. Troubleshoot print-quality and mechanical issues during production.
  5. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning procedures.
  6. Monitor paper usage, spoilage, and production efficiency.
  7. Complete production reporting and job documentation.
  8. Coordinate with prepress, bindery, and production teams to ensure successful project completion.
  9. Maintain safe operating procedures and housekeeping standards.
  10. Assist with training press helpers and team members.
  11. Ensure production goals, quality standards, and delivery schedules are consistently met.

Qualifications:1. Experience operating web offset presses, sheetfed offset presses, or both.

  1. Strong understanding of offset printing processes and color control.
  2. Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
  3. Ability to read production specifications and job tickets.
  4. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  5. Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  6. Experience with Heidelberg, Goss, Harris, M110, or similar offset equipment is preferred.
  7. Print industry experience required.
  8. Experience in direct mail, data processing, print/mail operations, or database management is a plus.
