Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer based in Netherlands.

This is a senior engineering opportunity within a fast-growing consumer AI platform serving students across multiple international markets.
You will play a key role in building and evolving products used by a rapidly expanding global user base.
The position combines full-stack development with technical leadership and ownership of mobile experiences.
You will work across modern web and mobile technologies, collaborating closely with engineering and product leadership.
As the first dedicated senior/staff-level mobile lead, you will have significant influence over the architecture, quality, and direction of the mobile application.
The environment is remote-first, collaborative, and highly autonomous, with a small engineering team where individual contributions have visible impact.
This role is ideal for an experienced full-stack engineer who enjoys hands-on development, technical ownership, and mentoring other engineers.

Accountabilities
  • Take senior-level ownership of full-stack product development across web and mobile applications.
  • Lead the technical direction and end-to-end development of the mobile application, working closely with engineering and product leadership.
  • Contribute to the development and evolution of React Native applications, including architecture, performance, reliability, and user experience.
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable frontend and backend systems using TypeScript and the broader technology stack.
  • Develop modern web experiences using React.js, Next.js, HTML, CSS, and Tailwind.
  • Build and maintain backend services and APIs using Node.js, Nest.js, Prisma, and AWS.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering stakeholders to translate product requirements into robust, maintainable technical solutions.
  • Establish and maintain high engineering standards, including code quality, testing, documentation, version control, and collaborative development practices.
  • Contribute to technical architecture decisions and continuously improve application performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Support automated and end-to-end testing practices, including Playwright where appropriate.
  • Mentor, guide, and support other engineers while helping raise the team's technical capabilities.
  • Lead and manage engineering initiatives, balancing hands-on development with technical leadership and team coordination.
  • Identify opportunities to improve development workflows, engineering processes, and the overall product development lifecycle.
Requirements
  • At least 5 years of professional experience as a Full-Stack Engineer.
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Hands-on experience with Node.js, React.js, Next.js, Nest.js, Prisma, and Tailwind.
  • Experience developing and maintaining modern web applications and backend services.
  • Experience with React Native and mobile application development, with the ability to take ownership of mobile architecture and delivery.
  • Strong understanding of Git and collaborative software development workflows.
  • Experience leading or managing engineering teams, projects, or technical initiatives.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including clean architecture, maintainable code, debugging, testing, and performance optimization.
  • Ability to work effectively across the frontend, backend, and mobile layers of a product.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with product and engineering leadership.
  • High degree of ownership, autonomy, and accountability in a remote working environment.
  • Experience writing end-to-end tests with Playwright is a plus.
  • Experience with Python is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Jotai, Zustand, Redux, or similar state-management solutions is a plus.
  • Experience with Expo and AWS is advantageous.
Benefits
  • Fully remote opportunity within Europe, with a preference for candidates based in Western or continental Europe.
  • Full-time employment or independent contractor engagement options.
  • Flexible salary with no fixed compensation budget, allowing offers to reflect experience and seniority.
  • Stock options.
  • Opportunity to become the first dedicated senior/staff-level mobile engineering lead within the team.
  • Significant technical ownership over the mobile application and influence on product and engineering direction.
  • Opportunity to work with a modern technology stack including Node.js, React.js, React Native, Next.js, Nest.js, Expo, Prisma, Tailwind, and AWS.
  • Direct collaboration with engineering and product leadership in a small, high-impact team.
  • Remote-first environment with substantial autonomy and flexibility.
  • Opportunity to work on consumer AI products used by a rapidly growing international student community.
