Job description

Sales Consultant

At Green Rack Solar, we're committed to helping homeowners take control of their energy future with custom-designed solar solutions. As part of our growing team, you'll be at the forefront of the local clean energy movement, connecting clients with sustainable power options that fit their needs. We offer a competitive compensation package that includes medical, dental and vision insurance as well as matching 401(k) contributions.

As sales consultant, your primary goal will be to sell and guide residential clients through the solar evaluation and decision making process. In this role, you will develop and manage leads from initial inquiry to contract signing, ensuring a smooth, transparent process for the client. In addition to pursuing leads generated by company marketing, a successful candidate will feel comfortable engaging strangers in conversation, and will proactively develop business through community engagement, public education, and other outreach efforts. Developing referrals from existing customers and other self generated sources are highly recommended and rewarded.

Staying informed about solar industry trends, products, and regulations is essential, as you'll provide expert consultations and maintain competitive knowledge. Formal and informal training will be provided by Green Rack staff as well as manufacturing representatives at our training facility. Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills are key to effectively conveying the benefits of solar energy, closing deals, and positively representing Green Rack Solar to the general public. This is a hybrid role requiring some in office time as well as the ability to meet in-person with prospective clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pursue leads developed through our marketing and business development departments.
  • Generate new leads independently through referrals and community engagement.
  • Manage the complete sales cycle from lead generation through contract signing.
  • Track and organize client interactions and data within our CRM system.
  • Provide clear information on equipment, installation process, billing mechanisms, and general market conditions to prospective clients.
  • Recommend solar energy products, systems, and financing options tailored to customer energy needs, site conditions, preferences, and budget.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service as a primary point of contact for your customers.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications:

  • Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), and a customer-first mindset.
  • Knowledgeable about solar technology and/or willingness to learn quickly, with the ability to clearly explain the financial, technical, and environmental benefits of solar systems.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in consulting, sales, customer service, or solar energy (2+ years preferred).
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals and metrics.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly build relationships with strangers and persevere through adversity.
  • Self-starter who can work independently after training, with the ability to learn technical products, manage multiple responsibilities across various business platforms, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

Compensation:

Our compensation package is designed to provide stability during the onboarding and training period, gradually transitioning into a performance-based structure consisting of a base salary plus sales commission. Qualified candidates can expect to earn $80,000-$120,000+ in their first year of employment, with opportunity for substantial growth as you expand your network of referrals.

Benefits:

  • 401(k)
  • 401(k) matching
  • Flexible schedule
  • Health insurance
  • Opportunities for advancement
  • Paid time off
  • Paid training
  • Professional development assistance
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Vision insurance
