What is the difference between Flexible Saas Attorney vs SaaS Contract Specialist?

AspectFlexible Saas Attorney

While both roles focus on SaaS legal matters, a Flexible Saas Attorney provides legal advice, drafts contracts, and handles compliance issues, often working independently or on a freelance basis. A SaaS Contract Specialist primarily manages and negotiates SaaS agreements within a company's legal or sales team. The attorney role requires legal credentials and offers broader legal expertise, whereas the contract specialist may not need a law degree but focuses on contract management. Both roles are common in tech industries, but the attorney role involves legal practice, while the specialist role emphasizes contract administration.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Flexible SaaS Attorney, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Flexible SaaS Attorney, a strong background in contract law, intellectual property, and technology law, typically with a Juris Doctor (JD) and bar admission, is essential. Familiarity with SaaS agreements, data privacy regulations like GDPR, and legal management software is often required. Excellent negotiation, analytical thinking, and communication skills help attorneys effectively advise clients and manage dynamic workloads. These abilities ensure legal compliance, risk mitigation, and the successful navigation of complex SaaS business environments.

How does a Flexible SaaS Attorney typically collaborate with cross-functional teams within a tech company?

A Flexible SaaS Attorney frequently works alongside product, engineering, sales, and compliance teams to ensure legal considerations are integrated into every stage of the software lifecycle. This collaboration involves reviewing contracts, advising on data privacy issues, and helping shape policies that address both regulatory requirements and business goals. Attorneys in this role often participate in regular meetings, provide training, and act as a bridge between legal requirements and operational execution. Such close teamwork helps streamline product launches and contract negotiations, enhancing both compliance and business agility.

What is a Flexible SaaS Attorney?

A Flexible SaaS Attorney is a legal professional who specializes in software-as-a-service (SaaS) contracts and legal matters, often working in a flexible or remote capacity. They assist technology companies with drafting, negotiating, and reviewing SaaS agreements, privacy policies, and compliance documents. Their flexible role means they may work as outside counsel, on a contract basis, or provide on-demand legal services to multiple clients. This adaptability allows businesses to access specialized legal expertise as needed, without committing to a full-time, in-house counsel.

Job description

EvenUp is on a mission to close the justice gap using technology and AI. We empower personal injury lawyers and victims to get the justice they deserve. Our products enable law firms to secure faster settlements, higher payouts, and better outcomes for victims injured through no fault of their own in vehicle collisions, accidents, natural disasters, and more.

We are one of the fastest-growing vertical SaaS companies in history, and we are just getting started. EvenUp is backed by top VCs, including Bessemer Venture Partners, Bain Capital Ventures, SignalFire, and Lightspeed. We are looking to expand our team with talented, driven, and collaborative individuals who seek to have a lasting impact. Learn more at www.evenuplaw.com.

We’re seeking an Atlanta-based Strategic Account Director to partner with our most impactful, high-touch enterprise accounts in the region. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in high-growth environments, enjoys building deep customer partnerships, and excels at on-site account engagement, roadmap partnership, and revenue growth planning.

This is a rare opportunity to lead in a mission-focused, AI-first company with exponential growth. You’ll drive measurable impact, help scale foundational customer success structures, and shape the way EvenUp serves its most strategic clients.

What you’ll do:

  • Strategic Account Planning: Partner with EvenUp product and executive teams to develop and execute long-term success plans aligned with customer objectives and business outcomes.
  • Own High-Value Accounts: Lead a portfolio of 8-10 key accounts, ensuring they receive personalized, high-touch support and strategic guidance.
  • On-site Client Engagement: Be present with clients at least once a week—build trust, understand evolving goals, and ensure alignment.
  • Outcome-Focused Advocacy: Advocate for customer needs internally, providing insights to Product, Finance, and Engineering to improve offerings and align on goals.

What we look for:

  • Experience: 5+ years in Strategic Customer Success or Key Account Management, preferably in high-growth B2B SaaS startups.
  • Account Expertise: Proven track record managing a few large, complex accounts with $1M+ in ARR or equivalent scope.
  • Consultative Approach: Skilled at working with every level of the business: executive stakeholders, operations leaders, contributors to understand their goals and deliver outcomes.
  • Hands-On & Autonomous: Comfortable navigating ambiguity and taking ownership—without needing constant direction.
  • Collaborative & Internal Influence: Excellent cross-functional communication—ensuring customer feedback is woven into product and service enhancements.
  • Weekly Local Travel: Comfortable engaging with regular in-person meetings, drop-ins, trainings within a two hour drive.

Benefits & Perks:

As part of our total rewards package, we offer attractive benefits and perks to our employees, including:

  • Choice of medical, dental, and vision insurance plans for you and your family.
  • Additional insurance coverage options for life, accident, or critical illness.
  • Flexible paid time off, sick leave, short-term and long-term disability.
  • 10 US observed holidays, and Canadian statutory holidays by province.
  • A home office stipend.
  • 401(k) for US-based employees and RRSP for Canada-based employees.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • A local in-person meet-up program.
  • Hubs in San Francisco and Toronto.

Please note the above benefits & perks are for full-time employees

Please note that EvenUp may use AI notetakers and other recording devices in the recruiting process. If you interview with us, with your consent, we may record your conversations and summarize them into notes for internal use. Recording is optional, and declining will not affect your candidacy.
