Job description

Position Summary

The Level 3 Systems Engineer is a senior technical role responsible for leading complex projects, supporting MSP clients, mentoring junior technical staff, and driving process improvements across the organization. This position requires strong critical thinking skills, advanced troubleshooting expertise, and the ability to serve as a subject matter expert in key infrastructure technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engineer, onboard, and deploy new MSP client environments
  • Design, implement, troubleshoot, and maintain enterprise infrastructure solutions
  • Provide advanced escalation support to Help Desk Technicians and Systems Administrators
  • Mentor team members and contribute to skill development across the department
  • Conduct advanced network and systems troubleshooting
  • Implement tools, documentation standards, and processes to improve operational efficiency
  • Collaborate with leadership and technical teams to identify and implement process improvements
  • Participate in escalations as needed (primary on-call rotation is handled by Help Desk and Systems Administrators)
  • Project Management

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in an MSP environment or equivalent IT infrastructure role
  • 10+ years of hands-on IT support experience
  • Senior-level experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting:
    • Windows Server and Desktop operating systems
    • Active Directory
    • DNS
    • Microsoft 365
    • VMware vSphere
    • Veeam
    • Group Policy
    • Enterprise servers and SAN infrastructure
  • Advanced experience with Fortinet solutions, including:
    • FortiGate Firewalls
    • Fortinet switches
    • Fortinet wireless access points
    • Fortinet security products
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Remote Desktop Services, Azure, AWS, and cloud technologies
  • Ability to serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in at least two of the following areas:
    • Networking
    • VMware vSphere
    • Current Windows Server platforms
    • PowerShell
    • Active Directory
    • Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
