Job description

The Animal Caretaker Manager In Training at Prestage is responsible for assisting in managing the operation of swine farrowing and breeding facilities. This position involves hands-on training in animal care practices, employee management, and farm operational procedures. The Manager In Training will work closely with existing management to learn the intricacies of farm management, focusing on animal welfare, productivity, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or related field preferred
  • Prior experience in animal care or farming operations is a plus
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments and procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Physical ability to perform labor-intensive tasks and lift up to 50 lbs

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assists in the management and training of Animal Caretakers, ensuring adherence to animal care and farm management protocols.
Monitors the health and welfare of animals, implements best practices for feeding, sanitation, and housing.
Develops and maintains accurate records for animal care, production, and employee performance.
Participates in safety and compliance training and ensures all practices meet company and regulatory standards.
Identifies areas for improvement and works with management to enhance animal husbandry techniques and operational efficiencies.
Promotes teamwork and a positive work environment among farm staff.
Performs other duties as determined by management as part of the training process.
SPECIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.

ADA REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to walk, stoop, bend, climb, perform repetitive motions, see and distinguish colors, hear, and lift up to 50 lbs.
