What is a flex schedule Cone Health RN?

A Flex Schedule Cone Health RN is a Registered Nurse employed by Cone Health who works on a flexible schedule rather than a set shift pattern. This role allows nurses to choose or be assigned shifts based on staffing needs and their availability, which can include days, nights, weekends, or holidays. Flex Schedule RNs help fill gaps in staffing and may work in various units or departments within the Cone Health system. This position offers greater scheduling flexibility, which can be ideal for nurses who need a non-traditional work schedule. Flex Schedule RNs are expected to maintain the same clinical standards as full-time staff.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a flex schedule RN at Cone Health?

To thrive as a Flex Schedule RN at Cone Health, you need a valid RN license, clinical nursing expertise, and the flexibility to work variable shifts as required by the organization. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs) and standard hospital equipment is essential, along with up-to-date certifications like BLS or ACLS. Strong communication, adaptability, and time management skills are crucial for effectively supporting patients and collaborating with diverse care teams in a dynamic environment. These competencies enable RNs to deliver consistent, high-quality care while meeting the fluctuating needs of both patients and the healthcare system.

How does a flex schedule impact the work-life balance and responsibilities of an RN at Cone Health?

A flex schedule as an RN at Cone Health offers nurses greater control over their shifts, which can lead to improved work-life balance. However, this flexibility also requires adaptability, as shift assignments may vary week to week based on patient census and unit needs. Nurses in these positions often work across multiple units and must quickly acclimate to different teams and patient populations. This dynamic environment fosters a broad skill set and strong collaboration skills, while providing opportunities to learn from diverse clinical situations and colleagues.
