Job description

J&J Truck Bodies seeks a Fleet Project Manager who will ensure that assigned fleet projects adhere to established schedules, specifications, and budgets. The role will be responsible for overseeing assigned fleet build projects, coordinating the communication and activities between various internal and external customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Coordinate the activities of multiple departments (sales, engineering, supply/procurement, order processing, manufacturing, marketing) to confirm that assigned fleet build projects are completed according to specifications, budgets, and timelines.
  • Create and manage a detailed project plan to track progress.
  • Organize and lead project team and ensure compliance, ownership, and cohesion.
  • Maintain regular communication with customers/clients to arrange meetings, confirm project schedules, and discuss any project problems.
  • Ensure that customers and senior management are regularly informed of the status of the project and any problems or potential deviations from approved timeline or budget.
  • Forecast potential schedule delays and develop alternate plans to achieve the project goals.
  • Serve as the central point of contact assigned fleet projects and drive visibility to all parties.
  • Drive accountability amongst internal and external teams.
  • Lead any corrective action plans in an authoritative manner.
  • Work with management and other organizational team members to develop and optimize project KPI's, including cost reduction, delivery times and efficiency.
  • Set the expectation for and enforce consistent documentation, change management, organization methods, control document repositories, approval procedures, etc.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. At times, due to projects or work assignments, employee will need to coordinate and direct a team to meet/satisfy individual/company objectives.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

This role operates in a combination of office environment and a significant amount of time on the shopfloor of the facilities involved on the project.

  • Must maintain a balance of time sitting at a desk and working on a computer, with enough time spent on the shop-floor of the facilities as needed to support the project.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times (occasionally).

Travel:

  • Occasional domestic travel is anticipated for training and client meetings.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering).
  • Certified Project Management (CPM)
  • Working knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma manufacturing principles
