JOB SUMMARY
As a mechanic for the fleet department, you will perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs to equipment both company and customer owned with minimal supervision. The fleet department ensures the equipment is ready for rent by evaluating the equipment is in good condition and fully functional.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
  • Two years' experience in maintenance and repair of trucks and/or heavy equipment or education in diesel technology;
  • or related field or any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
  • Considerable knowledge of methods, materials, tools and techniques used in vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Must be able to work in extreme elements
  • Experience with electrical systems, including computerized induction/ignition systems
  • Must be able to follow all PPE requirements
  • Skills include use of power and hand tools, use of diagnostic equipment and experience with operation of vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes
  • Attention to details
  • knowledge of safety practices and procedures
  • communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Diagnoses, rebuilds and repairs equipment that is used in the powerline industry.
  • Perform service and repairs on various systems including hydraulics, trailer wiring, electronics, and structural to ensure the equipment is rental ready.
  • Inspect the pulling rope and cable for damage and perform splices as instructed to maintain its integrity.
  • Identify mechanical problems visually and with computer diagnostic systems.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance.
  • Maintain records of time and materials used on each job, the condition of the equipment, and the repairs performed.
  • Track information in computer software to ensure accuracy of records.
  • Participate in training programs; maintain and update safety skills and knowledge; keep current with hazardous material training requirements.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, governing agencies and the public.
  • Other duties as assigned based on business need.
