Job Title
Fleet Maintenance Manager

Job Overview
The primary function of the Fleet Maintenance Manager is to coordinate and control the fleet maintenance requirements across the entire company spectrum. Utilizes both on location repair methods with company technicians where available, outsource to qualified vendors when necessary, coordinate road calls and break downs. Establish purchasing programs.

Under general supervision from the Director, perform supervisory duties in the implementation and management of a fleet operation for Bob's Discount Furniture; perform supervisory and technical work in vehicle and equipment mechanics as needed. Responsibilities will include:

  • Oversees fleet maintenance including in-house and outsourced repairs
  • Oversees yard maintenance to ensure safe operating conditions are maintained
  • Responsible for training of staff to support all Fleet Maintenance programs
  • Manage day to day operations of all Fleet maintenance programs while ensuring maximum efficiencies in cost and service
  • Manage/coordinate communication with mechanics coming into facilities
  • Recruit/train/direct a multi-location work force
  • Control expenditures by maintaining oversite on repair functions to reduce/eliminate waste
  • Implement controlled purchasing functions and capitalize on economies when possible
  • Periodic reviews of employee skills and talents
  • Maintain recaps of expenses as best possible using whatever methods are available
  • Constant focus on DOT concerns and requirements
  • Conducts annual associate reviews
  • Evaluates new depot locations for serviceability
  • All other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proven extensive knowledge of DOT rules and regulations
  • Must have an extensive background in DOT mandated repair practices
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in the heavy trucking industry
  • Ability to coordinate teams and projects across multiple fleet locations.
  • Ability to communicate proactively and effectively including comprehending and communicating detailed instructions, reading and writing, and having knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures as required by the position.
  • Must be at least 18 years old to be considered for employment with Bob's.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, push, pull, climb, balance, and crouch.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. without assistance and up to 100 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.
