POSITION: Part-Time Graduate Intern for Student Life & Leadership: Student Life; Haverhill (100 Elliott Street) and Lawrence (45 Franklin Street) Campuses; up to 10 hours/week
SUMMARY: The Graduate Intern for Student Life & Leadership is a pre-professional role designed for a student currently enrolled in a master's program in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or a related field. This position provides a hands-on foundation in the core functions of student engagement, focusing on the mentorship of student leaders and the operational logistics of campus-wide programming.
The Intern will practice student-centered stewardship, helping to bridge the gap between classroom theory and the practical realities of supporting a diverse student body through direct service and administrative management.
SCHEDULE: The schedule is flexible, based on operational needs, and will be determined in collaboration with the position supervisor. It will include a combination of daytime and evening hours to support event coverage.
REPORTS TO: Executive Director for Student Engagement
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Functional Administrative Operations

• Maintain a consistent in-office presence to serve as a first point of contact for student drop-ins, providing resources and answering questions regarding campus life.
• Manage the department's primary email inbox, ensuring timely and professional correspondence with students, faculty, and external vendors.
• Coordinate the procurement of event supplies, including researching costs, placing orders, and managing inventory for upcoming programs.
• Act as a liaison between students and the department by identifying and escalating complex student concerns or crisis situations to professional staff as needed.

Student Organization Advising & Support

• Serve as a point of contact for registered student organizations (RSOs) regarding policy interpretation, event planning, and resource navigation.
• Assist in the development of leadership training materials and workshops for student officers.
• Support the administration of student organization processes, including registration, recognition, and budget tracking.

SGA & Leadership Advocacy

• Provide administrative support and guidance to the Student Government Association and its various committees.
• Mentor student leaders as they navigate campus governance, advocacy initiatives, and institutional representation.
• Assist in coordinating student-led elections and leadership transition programs.

Large-Scale Programming & Campus Traditions

• Play a key role in planning, coordination, and day-of execution of flagship campus events, including Weeks of Welcome, Campus Cinema Nights, Casino Night, and Spring Jam.
• Help manage event logistics such as vendor contracts, space reservations, and volunteer coordination

New Student Orientation

• Aid in the coordination and implementation of New Student Orientation Sessions.
• Assist in the management of event logistics such as coordinating campus partners, space reservations and promotional materials.

Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
NOTE: Unless otherwise noted, all required qualifications must be met by date of hire.

• Bachelor's degree
• Valid Driver's License
• A commitment to fostering inclusive and accessible campus environments.
• Strong interpersonal and professional communication skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and administrative tasks in a fast-paced, student-facing office.
• Proficiency in standard office software and an aptitude for learning institutional administrative systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Current enrollment in a Master's degree program in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or a relevant discipline. Experience in a higher education environment
• Bilingual (Spanish/English)
• Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse population

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
