Job description

Overview

The Safety Professional is primarily responsible for observing and evaluating work sites, responding to incidents, and supporting the implementation of injury management plans as well as safety programs while acting in accordance with company values, vision and mission.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor performance of safety and quality programs to ensure effectiveness and efficiency
  • Operational assistance including Final Incident Reports (FIRs), pre-cons, and client feedback
  • Review assigned facilities for general safety, including fire, and emergency procedures
  • Development content for safety programs and assist with execution
  • Complete daily activity report and submit daily reporting
  • Perform incident investigation as required
  • Participate in incident investigation review with management as required
  • Assist in the development of post incident lessons learned and training materials (i.e. FF Learn content)
  • Compile, maintain, analyze and report incidents, audit and safety statistics
  • Assist and support RISK department projects and process improvement
  • Anticipated 80% of time spent in the field
  • Conduct, attend and participate in various department meetings as necessary
  • Participate in Safety and Fleet policy development
  • Maintain valid internal training certification
  • Other duties as assigned by Safety Manager
  • In addition to the functions listed above, the employee is expected to act in accordance with company values, vision and mission, exercise honesty, integrity and respect with all clients and co-workers, demonstrate leadership, maintain a professional appearance and demeanor, demonstrate a positive attitude, communicate effectively with co-workers and clients, work with accuracy, efficiency and close attention to detail, maintain good attendance by working when and where directed, respect the work environment and keep it as neat and clean as possible, and exercise initiative to learn new skills and tasks and to help co-workers when possible. The employee is also expected to perform such other duties and functions as required from time to time

Qualifications
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills

  • Proficient computer literacy; experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.)
  • Steel toed boots or the ability to obtain prior to employment. 

  • Bachelor's or associate degree in occupational safety and health, Environmental Safety or related field or equivalent work experience 

  • Maintain valid internal training certifications through Flagger Force Academy 

  • Must hold all required Department of Transportation qualifications for assigned territory 

  • Valid driver's license in accordance with Flagger Force motor vehicle record standards 

Preferred experience:

  • One (1)+ year(s) experience with Flagger Force and/or similar traffic control knowledge 

  • One (1)+ year(s) experience with state and federal traffic control guidelines (i.e., Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices) 

  • Demonstrated experience with fleet safety driving practices/systems
