This opportunity resides with Uncrewed Systems (UxS), a business group within HII's Mission Technologies division. Uncrewed Systems comprises unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs), unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) and autonomy software.

As the Unmanned System (UxV) Mission Management Lead, you will play a key part of our HII Unmanned Systems autonomy portfolio. The Mission Management Lead drives the integration of HII's Odyssey maritime autonomy with tactical mission management systems, enabling the integration of command and control, sensor management, data dissemination across unmanned and manned C6ISR systems, thereby creating a common manned-unmanned tactical picture, accelerating kill-chain decision making. Empowering autonomous platforms to participate and prioritize key targets enables strategic objectives across complex environments, given unmanned platforms' unique ability to provide sensor data and effector support at scale and range. In doing so, you will work with multi-disciplinary engineering teams and fellow Autonomy/AI leads, and you will deliver high value autonomy solutions to the market. This role can be located in our Pocasset, Mass office or VA Beach.
Additionally, this position will:Manage the Mission Management product lifecycle
  • Collaborate with business development to define market strategy
  • Collaborate with engineering to develop the optimum product for our customers
  • Represent the product externally with customers and at industry events

What you will be doing..
Functions as a technical expert who provides management, leadership in the design, development and delivery of technology-enabled applications, products and services within a technical environment. Participate in and provide input into the design, re-design and development of technology products and applications. Contribute to and often lead the specification and design phases of the development life cycle. Also manage the design and implementation of new development and enhancement efforts, and coordinate systems installation and software testing with other technologists. Responsible for the overall technical implementation of applications, and frequently interact with internal and external business contacts. Responsible for the technical integrity of projects while providing technical guidance to clients and department staff at the brand, program, and project levels. Functions as day-to-day lead on assigned projects and works with technical leadership to perform evaluations and feasibility reviews of creative concepts and technology solutions. Act as a point of technical escalation and resolution during the project lifecycle as it relates to technical decisions Determine and provide a necessary level of technical documentation during requirements gathering, based on technical services group standards and procedures and discussions with project staff, industry experience, and technical vendors. Assist the technical director with scoping, identification of project deliverables, and creation of project-specific documentation such as functional specifications, technical specifications, etc. Proactively work with producers to ensure that appropriate staffing resources are assigned, put in place, and effectively utilized at the appropriate time. Work with quality assurance resources to create test plans and ensure that issues are properly assigned, fixed, and regressed. Communicate daily regarding project status with appropriate team members. Provide technical consultancy to department staff and participate in business development efforts including proposals, development plans, and presentations, as directed.
What we are looking for...
  • 8 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in related field; 6 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 12 years relevant progressive experience.
  • Experience with combat system software
  • Experience with perception stacks, sensor fusion, object detection and tracking
  • Experience with autonomy platforms for unmanned vehicles
  • Eligibility to obtain and hold an active U.S. DoD Security Clearance
