What is a fixed operations manager?

A Fixed Operations Manager oversees the service, parts, and sometimes the body shop departments in an automotive dealership. Their primary responsibilities include managing daily operations, ensuring high customer satisfaction, increasing profitability, and maintaining efficient workflow in these departments. They work closely with service advisors, technicians, and parts staff to coordinate repairs, maintenance, and parts sales. Effective Fixed Operations Managers also focus on staff training, process improvement, and meeting performance targets for the dealership.

How does a fixed operations manager typically collaborate with other departments within a dealership?

A Fixed Operations Manager works closely with the service, parts, and sometimes body shop departments to ensure smooth workflows and consistent customer satisfaction. They often coordinate with the sales department to align service promotions or resolve customer concerns that span multiple areas. Regular meetings and clear communication with department heads are common, facilitating unified goals and addressing operational challenges. This collaborative approach helps maximize efficiency, drive profitability, and support overall dealership success.

These skills are essential for optimizing service department efficiency, driving revenue growth, and maintaining high customer loyalty in a competitive market.

Job description

Commercial Truck Operations Coach – Remote (Travel Required)

Chris Collins, Inc. | Los Angeles, CA (Remote)

$130,000–$170,000+ DOE

This is your shot.

Not a tagline. A genuine opportunity for someone who has paid their dues, knows commercial truck operations inside and out, and is ready to stop being the best-kept secret in their dealership.

We're Chris Collins, Inc. — the team behind the Service Drive Revolution. We partner with dealerships across the U.S. and Canada to transform their service operations: the numbers, the culture, and the people running it. We're expanding our coaching team, and we're looking for one of the rare ones.

What You'll Actually Do

You'll be on-site at commercial truck dealerships 3 weeks a month, working directly with Owners, GMs, Service Directors, and frontline staff. This is not PowerPoint consulting. You are in the trenches — auditing operations, fixing what's broken, and building what's missing.

Identify profit leaks and implement real solutions

Train service advisors in high-level selling strategies that actually work

Coach managers on leadership, accountability, and how to build a culture worth keeping

Drive KPI comprehension and hold teams to results

Deliver a mix of on-site and virtual coaching depending on client needs

A typical month: 3 weeks on the road across the U.S. and Canada, 1 week remote. You own your schedule beyond that.

Who We're Looking For

You have significant experience in commercial truck service operations — as a Service Manager, Fixed Ops Director, or similar. You've seen dealerships at their worst and know exactly what it takes to turn them around. You can walk into a room of skeptics and earn their respect before lunch.

Beyond the résumé:

You're self-motivated and don't need hand-holding

You communicate with clarity and confidence

You hold yourself to a standard most people find exhausting

You're ready for a role with real autonomy — and real accountability

If you've been thinking you were built for more than your current role allows, you're probably right.

What You Get

$130,000–$170,000+ annually (Senior Coaches regularly exceed $200K)

Training in our proprietary coaching systems and tools

A team of high performers who take the work seriously and respect each other's autonomy

The chance to make a measurable difference in people's careers and livelihoods

A company with serious growth plans over the next 2–4 years — and coaches who grow with it

Apply if this is you. Skip it if it's not.

We're not looking for volume. We're looking for the right person.

Chris Collins, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.

Join The Service Drive Revolution!

Desire to travel all over the U.S. — 3 weeks per month

Self-starter who can command a room, earn trust, and drive change fast

Willingness to learn, grow, and coach

Excellent communication skills and comfort with leading training

A flexible schedule

Ability to work with all personality types
