How much does a fit model get paid?

Fit models typically earn between $15 and $50 per hour, depending on experience, the complexity of the samples, and the company. Some fit models may also be paid a flat rate per fitting or session, especially in freelance or part-time roles. Compensation can vary based on location and the scope of the work involved.

What are the typical challenges a fit model faces during fittings, and how can they be addressed?

Fit Models often encounter challenges such as standing for long periods, maintaining consistent body measurements, and providing clear feedback to designers. It's important to communicate comfort and mobility concerns honestly, as this helps the design team make necessary adjustments. Additionally, Fit Models may need to adapt to varying schedules and work with multiple brands, requiring flexibility and professionalism. Staying fit, following a healthy lifestyle, and building strong communication skills can help address these challenges and ensure a successful career in this role.

What is a fit model?

A Fit Model, or Fitting Model, helps clothing designers in the initial stages of garment design. As a Fit Model, your responsibilities include communicating with the designers and manufacturers about how the clothing fits and how the fabric feels, providing feedback about potential adjustments. You also must maintain your weight and measurements so that you provide a consistent form for the designers. A Fit Modeling job is generally much longer than other model work, like photo shoots and fashion shows. It can take a long period of time to perfect garments, requiring you to make ongoing visits to the designer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a fit model, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Fit Model, you need to maintain specific body measurements that match industry sample sizes and possess a basic understanding of garment construction and fit. Familiarity with sizing charts, fitting procedures, and sometimes experience with 3D body scanning tools are typically required. Professionalism, reliability, and the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback are vital soft skills that set successful fit models apart. These skills and qualities are essential to ensure accurate garment sizing, effective communication with design teams, and the overall quality of fashion products.

What is the difference between Fit Model vs Pattern Maker?

AspectFit ModelPattern Maker
Required CredentialsNone mandatory, but fashion or apparel knowledge helpfulTechnical skills, fashion design or pattern-making certifications often preferred
Work EnvironmentClothing fitting sessions in design studios or manufacturing facilitiesDesign studios, manufacturing plants, or pattern development rooms
Employer & Industry UsageFashion brands, apparel companies, clothing manufacturersFashion houses, apparel companies, pattern development firms

While both Fit Models and Pattern Makers work closely in the apparel industry, Fit Models primarily participate in fitting sessions to evaluate garment fit and sizing, whereas Pattern Makers create the patterns used to produce garments. Fit Models focus on body measurements and fitting feedback, while Pattern Makers translate design concepts into technical patterns. Both roles are essential in the clothing development process but serve different functions within the industry.

Head of Admissions, Alpha - $200,000/year USD (Salt Lake City)

Crossover

Salt Lake City, UT โ€ข On-site

$200K/yr

Full-time

Job description

Most admissions positions prioritize throughput. This position prioritizes standards.

Alpha is developing one of the world's most ambitious educational models. Our campuses integrate rigorous academics, technology-enabled learning, and elevated expectations for both students and faculty. Students consistently outpace national learning benchmarks, with measurable data to support it. Afternoons are structured for depth, autonomy, and practical skill development. The model is effective. But its effectiveness depends on enrolling the right families. That's your responsibility.

You will oversee the complete admissions process for a campus, spanning initial application to final enrollment. This is not a coordination role. You are accountable for the family experience, the clarity of model communication, and ensuring enrollment decisions reflect genuine alignment. You will evaluate fit, facilitate informed conversations, and recommend decline when appropriate. The objective is not enrollment maximization. The objective is mutual alignment.

We welcome candidates from premium service backgrounds outside conventional education: selective private schools, competitive programs, luxury hospitality, executive services, premium membership organizations, or owner-operators with direct experience managing high-value client relationships from start to finish. What counts is your capacity to execute a high-touch, phased process with discernment, transparency, and reliability. If your career has centered on delivering white-glove experiences where trust, discretion, and quality define the brand, this role will resonate.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Leading the complete enrollment process for prospective families, beginning with initial outreach and concluding with onboarding.
  • Facilitating needs-based discovery conversations to assess alignment before proposing solutions or advising on next steps.
  • Stewarding 20+ concurrent family relationships across varying enrollment stages, maintaining clear oversight of status and follow-up actions.
  • Guiding campus tours, shadow visits, and enrollment discussions that transparently convey outcomes, expectations, and model suitability.
  • Ensuring accurate CRM and enrollment documentation (HubSpot and SIS) to enable forecasting, prioritization, and sustained service excellence.
What You Wonโ€™t Be Doing
  • Employing transactional or aggressive sales methods.
  • Admitting families with poor fit solely to meet enrollment targets.
  • Overseeing a large team or working through complex approval hierarchies.
  • Distributing family experience ownership across multiple functions.
  • Operating remotely. This role is intentionally campus-based.
Head Of Admissions Key Responsibilities

Lead and deliver a high-trust, highly selective enrollment process that successfully enrolls aligned families while safeguarding the integrity and outcomes of the Alpha model.

Basic Requirements
  • 3+ years providing premium, individualized service in settings where service excellence directly shapes brand perception (education, luxury hospitality, executive support, premium membership, or owner-operated businesses).
  • Proven ownership of a complete client, admissions, or enrollment process spanning first touchpoint through onboarding.
  • Experience managing 20+ simultaneous client, guest, or family relationships at various stages, supported by a robust tracking and prioritization system.
  • Capacity to share specific examples of consultative decision-making, including instances where you advised against your offering when alignment was absent.
  • Professional writing experience engaging with senior executives, high-net-worth clients, or sophisticated audiences.
  • Willingness to reside in or relocate within 60 days to Park City, UT or Scottsdale, AZ.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.
Nice-to-have Requirements
  • Experience in selective private school admissions or enrollment for competitive programs.
  • Background in luxury hospitality, VIP services, or executive-level client support.
  • Experience developing or enhancing enrollment workflows, standard operating procedures, or service protocols.
  • Proficiency leveraging data and CRM insights to enhance conversion quality, not simply velocity.
