Job description

Summary Statement
This position involves the application of fiscal/financial functions for the Division of Revenue. The incumbent provides transaction processing support to Revenue Accounting Services during the personal income tax and fiscal year-end close, including corrections, transmittal releases, voids, stop payments, and external liability adjustments. During corporate filing season, the position will also provide administrative and operational support to Corporate Audit, including case file management, scheduling, workpaper organization, and basic audit report reconciliation. Technical accuracy, deadline discipline, and the ability to manage shifting priorities across two functional areas are essential. The position may be cross-trained in additional functional areas as needed.
Essential Functions

  • Reviews forms and source documents such as bills, receipts, invoices, claims, or service contracts to complete purchase orders; confirms accuracy, completeness, required documentation and approvals in compliance with applicable procedures, practices and standards.
  • Verifies or determines correct classification and coding of transactions.
  • Uses commercial and proprietary automated information systems and computer software to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve and report on data.
  • Uses standard formulas to perform and verify calculations; monitors balances and identifies and reports discrepancies.
  • Creates and maintains financial records, documents and files.
  • Prepares reports and summaries on the status of accounts or other financial data.
  • Participates in recommending changes to internal procedures, forms, or process enhancements.
  • Gathers and compiles data for higher-level staff.
  • Performs general office work and functions as assigned such as preparing correspondence and distributing documents.
  • May perform payroll entries and process payroll in automated information systems.
  • Delivers excellent customer service to internal and external customers and the public in person, electronically, or by written communication.
  • Communicates and interacts effectively with people across cultures, ranges of ability, genders, ethnicities, ages, and races.

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Fiscal Associate II
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
  1. Six months' experience in processing accounting, auditing or payroll transactions following applicable laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
  2. Six months' experience in determining compliance of financial transactions with required documentation, computations, codes, signatures, rules or regulations.
  3. Six months' experience in preparing financial reports such as combining and presenting financial data from multiple sources in an organized format.

  1. Possession of an Associate's degree or higher in Accounting or related field.

Additional Posting Information
This position is a classification organized under an exclusive bargaining representative (labor organization) that has been elected by employees as their representative for collective bargaining and other applicable terms and conditions of employment, in accordance with Title 29, Chapter 59 and Title 19, Chapter 13 and 16. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement based on its individual terms.
