Job description

Overview

This position assists in the development and implementation of new products as well as analysis of credit risk associated with product offering. Addresses escalated matters in credit decisioning from sales, operations, and underwriting from the Help Desk and Exception Desk. Works with the senior credit manager to forecast, monitor, and manage credit for the mortgage portfolio. Provides guidance, feedback, and direction on complex matters through expertise and oversight of daily workflow.


Responsibilities
  • Policy Resource - Assists with development of mortgage processing policies and procedures that ensure efficiency and minimize errors. Remains current on industry regulations and informs associates, peers, and senior management of relevant policy changes
  • Managerial Functions - Leads work efforts for accuracy, process improvements and efficiencies.
  • Credit oversight - Provides guidance and serves as an escalation point for highly complex underwriting credit decisions. Responsible for approving portfolio mortgage loans. Reviews denial requests and determines if alternate product may be available. Decides on the creditworthiness of complex loans.
  • Business Support - Coordinates work efforts with management, associates, and external parties, communicating clearly and offering guidance on portfolio actions. Maintains documentation on portfolio reviews, acquisitions, and talent assessments in department systems. Leads and participates in other projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Mortgage Banking OR High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Mortgage Banking

Preferred Area of Experience: Leadership in a production environment
