About the Role

The Logistics Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day execution of First and Middle Mile transportation operations. This role monitors freight movements, manages transportation exceptions, communicates with carriers and internal stakeholders, and ensures freight moves safely, efficiently, and on time. As part of the Transportation Operations team, the Logistics Specialist serves as the first point of contact for transportation events and plays a critical role in maintaining service levels through proactive monitoring, timely communication, and effective problem solving.

What the Candidate Will Do

  • Monitor inbound and outbound transportation movements across the network.
  • Track shipments and proactively identify service risks before they impact operations.
  • Manage transportation exceptions including delays, breakdowns, accidents, weather events, and capacity constraints.
  • Coordinate with carriers to obtain updated ETAs and recovery plans.
  • Execute the Transportation Incident Management SOP and communicate service-impacting events to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Escalate operational issues based on established severity levels and communication standards.
  • Coordinate recovery efforts for delayed or failed shipments.
  • Maintain accurate shipment status updates within transportation systems.
  • Communicate transportation updates to Operations, Customer Success, and Leadership as required.
  • Support carrier onboarding and operational readiness activities.
  • Document transportation incidents and assist with post-incident reviews and Continuous Improvement (COE) activities.
  • Ensure compliance with established SOPs, service standards, and safety requirements.
  • Participate in daily operational reviews, shift handoffs, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, dispatch, brokerage, or operations.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Comfortable working with transportation management systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple teams.
  • Willingness to work Front Half or Back Half shifts, including weekends and holidays as required.
  • Must be able to travel locally as needed. 
  • Must be able to work OT as needed. 
  • Must be able to work on-site at 280 Madsen Dr, Bloomingdale IL 60108. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting First Mile, Middle Mile, or Linehaul transportation operations.
  • Experience working with carriers or freight brokers.
  • Knowledge of Hours of Service (HOS), transportation terminology, and carrier operations.
  • Experience using TMS platforms, load tracking systems, or visibility tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple issues while maintaining attention to detail.

Illinois: The hourly range for this role is $18.92 to $27.24 per hour.
