What is fresh logistics?

Fresh logistics refers to the management and transportation of perishable goods, such as fruits, vegetables, dairy, meat, and seafood, that require temperature-controlled environments to maintain their quality and freshness. This field covers all processes from storage, packaging, and handling to timely delivery, ensuring products remain safe for consumption. Companies specializing in fresh logistics use refrigerated vehicles, specialized packaging, and real-time tracking to minimize spoilage and meet strict regulatory standards.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in fresh logistics?

To excel in Fresh Logistics, you need a solid understanding of supply chain management, inventory control, and cold chain processes, often supported by relevant logistics or business degrees. Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS), temperature monitoring technology, and certifications such as HACCP or SQF is valuable. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills help professionals adapt to fast-paced environments and coordinate across teams. These competencies ensure the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of perishable goods, maintaining product quality and customer satisfaction.

What are some common challenges faced in a fresh logistics role, and how can they be managed effectively?

Fresh Logistics professionals often encounter challenges such as maintaining product freshness during transport, adhering to strict temperature control standards, and meeting tight delivery schedules. Managing these requires close coordination with suppliers, drivers, and warehouse staff, as well as proficiency with cold chain technology and real-time tracking tools. Being proactive about route planning, contingency protocols, and regulatory compliance helps ensure products arrive in optimal condition and builds trust with clients and partners.

Job description

Farmer's Fridge makes fruits and vegetables accessible and approachable for everyone. We offer a variety of fresh, healthy, ready-to-eat meals and snacks through our fresh food vending machines, wholesale partners, and our office pantry solution - providing chef-curated meals to customers within seconds. Today, we operate a network of Fridges and partner with clients nationwide in high-foot-traffic areas, such as airports, hospitals, universities, and large office buildings - where there is limited accessibility to fresh, healthy, grab-n-go options.
We care deeply about what we're creating and aspire to make sure our customers feel that through every touchpoint. This shows up in many ways across the business. We are committed to prioritizing food safety, we are passionate about product quality, we value our employees, we champion the best idea no matter where it comes from, and we're committed to making an overall positive impact as we scale.
About this Role: We're looking for a Senior Logistics Coordinator to own the day-to-day execution and coordination of Farmer's Fridge installations, moves, removals, and redeployments across the country. You'll partners closely with Sales, Account Management,
Fridge Operations, Supply Chain, Centralized Warehouse Operations, and third-party logistics providers to keep our fridge pipeline moving.
Success means ensuring fridges are installed on time, inventory is positioned where it's needed, removals happen efficiently, and operational blockers are resolved before they impact execution. You'll own the daily install and removal queue, coordinate asset movement across markets, maintain accurate Salesforce data, and help implement scalable, repeatable processes that improve how we operate as we continue to grow.
What You'll Do...
  • Own Install, Move & Removal Execution
    • Coordinate fridge installations, first stocking, moves, decommissions, clearouts, removals, and redeployments across multiple markets.
    • Coordinate first-mile, middle-mile, and final-mile logistics with internal teams and third-party logistics providers.
    • Manage day-of install and removal coordination with client contacts and internal partners.
    • Monitor vendor capacity and execution timelines to keep projects on schedule.
  • Coordinate Fridge Inventory & Asset Movement
    • Help plan cross-market fridge movements to support inventory availability and install demand.
    • Monitor fridge inventory by market and proactively identify potential shortages before they impact upcoming installs.
    • Coordinate movement of multiple fridge versions, ensuring vendors have the information needed for successful execution.
    • Escalate inventory or financial tradeoffs requiring leadership approval
  • Keep Operations Running Smoothly
    • Maintain accurate Salesforce statuses, dates, and operational notes throughout the fridge lifecycle.
    • Triage automated alerts, identify process gaps, and ensure stakeholders have timely updates.
    • Surface blockers such as site readiness issues, access challenges, vendor delays, or missing information before they affect execution.
    • Track install progress, removals, and outstanding issues to improve operational visibility.
  • Partner Across Teams
    • Coordinate daily with Sales, Sales Operations, Account Management, Fridge Operations, Centralized Warehouse Operations, and third-party logistics providers.
    • Communicate proactively with internal teams and external partners to resolve conflicts, answer questions, and keep projects moving
  • Help Scale the Process
    • Document workflows, operating procedures, and vendor handoffs so execution doesn't depend on institutional knowledge.
    • Identify recurring operational challenges and recommend improvements that make installs and removals more efficient.
    • Support the continued evolution of Farmer's Fridge's install and removal governance processes.

Who You Are...
  • 2-3 years of experience in logistics, operations, supply chain, warehouse operations, project coordination, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required.
  • Experience coordinating work across multiple vendors, sites, or cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce or similar CRM, along with Google Workspace and Slack
  • Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, and dependencies simultaneously.
  • A proactive problem solver who enjoys bringing structure to complex operational work and pushing for clarity when information or ownership is unclear.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships and coordinate effectively with internal teams, third-party logistics providers, and client partners.
  • Comfortable balancing speed, customer experience, operational efficiency, and business priorities while making thoughtful decisions.
  • Experience documenting processes, creating SOPs, or improving operational workflows is a plus.
  • Excited by the opportunity to improve and scale a growing logistics operation while remaining hands-on in day-to-day execution.

The base salary range for this role is $85,000-$95,000. The base pay offered will be determined by factors such as experience, skills, training, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements.
In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for company performance-based bonuses and equity.
