Job description

The Town of Paradise Valley is looking for a skilled and dependable Fleet Technician to join our team and help keep our vehicles and equipment running safely and smoothly. If you enjoy hands-on work, solving mechanical problems, and taking pride in a job well done, this could be a great fit for you. In this position, you will play a critical role in making sure our fleet is reliable, safe, and ready to support daily operations, in support of the Town of Paradise Valley's (Town) mission to provide high-quality services to a community that values limited government.
Specifically, the Fleet Technician:
  1. Inspects, diagnoses, and repairs/authorizes warranty repairs of vehicles and heavy equipment.
  2. Performs preventative maintenance services on all Town vehicles and heavy equipment including but not limited to, tuning engines, replacing clutches, lights, electrical components, brakes, suspension components, tires, and other repairs as needed.
  3. Coordinates fleet services with other Town departments.
  4. Locates and purchases parts needed for maintenance and repairs; calls parts vendor and orders needed parts.
  5. Maintains computerized fleet records (RTA) and completes activity and inventory reports.
  6. Makes technical recommendations regarding vehicle and equipment replacement.
  7. Analyzes replacement and equipment criteria and requests and assists in preparing specifications for new vehicles and equipment, and disposal of the vehicles.

To become the Fleet Technician, the Town requires:
A valid class D Arizona driver's license;
AND
Fleet Technician 1 ($27.38 - $36.51/hour)
  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • 2 years full-time vehicle and heavy equipment maintenance and repair; or completion of a recognized apprenticeship as an automotive mechanic may substitute for two years of the required experience.

Fleet Technician 2 ($30.18 - $40.25/hour)
  • A high school diploma or GED.
